Default crooked drags, orlando fl

So this new racing venue in orlando, fl called Central Florida Road Course http://www.centralfloridaroadcourse.com/

is running two mirror pro solo type courses, where both cars start and end right next to each other. Makes for great competition.
Course if fast too, with a little jog on each straightaway, a 180 at the back end, and a 90 degree at the finish. Mostly flat out.
Only 25 bucks and you will get more than 10 runs at least.
It is friday nights (not sure if every friday though) from 7pm to 11pm
There are some really fast imports running there. I was quite surprised.
I was running my supercharged miata with toyo t1-r's and I had my hands full all night.

I had a blast, and will probably never attend an auto x again. No working in the hot sun chasing cones, and way more track time.

If you are in the area, I can guarantee it is worth the trip.

Oh, and there is a drifting course set up next to the race courses. So if that is your thing, there were plenty of guys doing that also.

Highly recommended.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa...
That looks more fun than the Riverside deal. Except on the right coast.
No coasting around the corners man.. get back into the throttle sooner!

it really was a blast.
I have been road racing with the SCCA for a few years, and was really into auto x'ing before that, so I've been around.
This was not only a lot of fun (think a really fast auto x course), but it was so damn easy.
You simply drive up, pay your money, and then go racing.
And right next door, there was drifting.
So you could walk over and watch this for 20 min's, then go watch the pro solo, etc...

And the competition was pretty fierce. There were some really fast guys out there. One guy in an EF with some hybrid motor, suspension, and decent tires was one of the FTD guys. I dont know what was under the hood, but he was off like a rocket on the straights. Must have been making 250+ and was putting the power to the ground.

The owner has around 500 acres in that industrial complex, and has said if it becomes popular he will expand.
Funnily enough, attendance was light last night.
We think it was because of the new fast and furious movie LOL

You're a very lucky man...you almost owed me a new laptop. Lucky for you, I was able to turn my head just enough before my coffee came shooting out of my mouth

What are the safety requirements for this deal, is it the same as prosolo?

the event is very laid back at this point in time.
No helmets required, no tech inspection, just a seatbelt and headlights.
Yeah, you worry about safety with that, but I think it draws in a lot of the younger kids with their toys, because of the fact that it is so easy to participate.

Here are a few pics from the event.
By no means is this indicative of the variety or number of cars that you will see out there.

sorry, been busy...

The runs are only about 30 seconds, maybe?

You dont really get up above about 50 mph, so I never felt unsafe at any point. Yeah, something could always happen, sure, but with all the cars running there for the last couple of months, I have only heard of one incident where a car understeered into some tires. Minor damage though.

Now, on the drifting course, that is another matter. There is a wreck there almost every night.

I'm gonna be there again this coming friday. I'll be in a black supercharged miata with kosei's if anyone is looking.
I also heard they will be holding track days (...er, nights) on wed nights. They have a basice road course that is separate from the crooked drags. I have no idea about safety equipment needed, and will ask the owner on friday. He is an older guy who you will see walking around the place. Nice guy.

I was going to post a link to the pictures I took, but I see you somehow already found them and posted them for me.

Well, if you are coming "up", then you have a shorter drive.
It is next to the airport off the 528 beeline.
http://maps.google.com/
Where you see parcel lane.
If you google maps the address on the website, you will get funky directions...ask me how I know.
Best way to to trace back from parcel lane to either 441 or Orange ave.
Once you get to central florida parkway you will begin to see signs for the Central Florida Road Course...and you just follow the signs.
I would print out the link I pasted, and then maybe print another that is less magnified to see where everything is in relation to the track.

ah, okay, you must be from the martin sports car club?

I have been in this part of florida for about a year now and have been meaning to make it to a martin auto x, but have been too busy getting my business going down here and road racing my ITB car.

I had planned on attending the gran prix event this weekend, but to be honest, now that I have discovered this new venue, I will probably not attend any auto x's.
More track time and no working the cones out in the hot sun, makes for a great combination for me.

I'm actually troubleshooting an electrical/starting problem on the miata right now...hope to get it going by friday.

I am very interested in this but to be honest I have never Auto-xed. How competitive is it out there? I just don't want to go an make a fool out of myself.

My car was recently totaled and am putting together another integra. I drag race mainly but once I get my next integra together I am looking forward to going out there.

If you go to Battle of The Imports come by and say hi I have a Red Toyota Starlet.

They are no longer running the Crooked Drags anymore, however they are now doing an open track event on Friday nights from 6pm-12am. They are also requiring helmets now and safety requirements have become much better now that they have a regular auto-xer working for them to point things out.

Here is a video from my in-car this past Friday.
