open header??
I have a 96+ spec Type R in my civic coupe
I currently am waiting unti paycheck to order my new exhaust...
But i have a new header sitting in my garage. if i run open header for 1 day is there any risk to my motor?? someone once told me that it would **** it up because of not enough back pressure but not so sure that person is correct?? just some quick feedback...... thanks

Let's hope that you don't sit in traffic as you can 'accidentally' induce 'sleepy time / dirt nap' from carbon monoxide fumes that build up under your car and find its way into the cabin. There's good reason for tail pipes to protrude past the rear bumper to avoid this very situation.
I wonder who started those two rumors about the valves burning and the backpressure. I drove my car from my house to my friends house (2 miles)open header, just to get the exhaust on. By the time that I got there I couldnt wait to get out and get some fresh air.

I drive around open header just before, during, and shortly after every race event. There is NO exhaust fumes that enter my cabin, the noise is bearable after a while, and you WILL NOT burn valves. Open header only gives more power.
I doubt this has any real bearing on the exhaust valves. The only way I could imagine this happening is if fresh air could some how make its way around the pulse of streaming exhaust to provide oxygen to a glowing hot exhaust valve.
