Default HELP! Intake Knocking on Hood

I have a 01 civic dx coupe and I bought a cheap ebay short ram intake and it knocks on the hood really bad when the car is cold and when I back up. I fastened it down with a big zip-tie (ghetto, I know...) but it still knocks bad. My question is has anyone else had this problem with the crappy ebay intake? And also does anyone have the injen short ram intake? And if so, how do you like it?

Just put the stock filter back on. It's not like you're gaining any horsepower from changing the intake piping on a D17.

just trim the rubber piece that connects the intake to the throttle body.

which end is knocking on the hood TB end or filter end ? and the injen product will be far superior in fitment , design and looks than ANY ebay intake

Is this an attempt at sarcasm? You won't get any noticeable gains from bolt-ons, when referring to a D17.

yea i didnt get if it was sarcasm or not matt lol but yeah i agree i would just put the stock intake back on since your not going to gain anything from our d17 it just makes the bay look uglier and empty like somethings missing

i disagree i think it looks better and i got 25 extra hp from mine.please dont burst my bubble. well at least it sounds like it.

I can guarantee you didn't get 25hp. I'd be amazed if you got 2hp from yours.

I know you dont get any real hp gains on a d17 (thats why I want to sell it). But i made the mistake. I only paid around 30 bucks for it also. And i think it knocks on the TB end of the intake

well in that case cut the rubber down like i said and it wont hit .also ebay intakes are fine except the filters are garbage replace it with a aem dry flow and your golden.

I cut it down a little bit today and it still hits a little. Not as bad though.

How far did you cut it down?

And nobody has the injen intake?

enough to clear my strut bar and still have enough to stay properly on the tb.i ya i forgot to mention i also sawed of a little bit of the intake then smoothed and cleaned the edges .

no pics just a littel of the bottem were it connects to the throttle body dont cut to much just a little .

i got a ingen intake i love it, no problems!, i juss love it when i step on it the way it sounds i could care less if it gave me HP, D17= SLOW! FTW!

He probably right that an Air intake don't give extra power but it give very aggressive engine sound and that what i like. I guess that not everyones can afford gaining alots Horse power on their civic. I don't see why would peoples add huge turbo and power in their civics unless they competiting.

Throw that ish out, or sell it to another ricer on ebay. all that intake will do will make more noise and lower the value of your car.

I had a shitty ebay intake until today and it knocked around all the time. Finaly had some good weather out my way so i put my stock air box back on without the resonator. Stock air box 4 the win.

How much did you pay for that bad boy? Sounds like i could get one for $170 on ebay.

PS- intake still knocks. About to cut the pipe a little bit

Considering all an intake really is is a metal pipe with a cone filter on the end, I doubt injen's intake is a superior design, other than fitment.

There are lots of ways to stop the rattling. Isolate where it's rattling at, and just use your head.

....and get a K&N filter for it.

i have injen intake! stock airbox sucks, smooth piping and filter will give it SOME more power, just not alot. but i think my car is a lot smoother in acceleration than before

If you get a chance to, have someone drive you around in a stock one compared to your car (while wearing ear muffs and a blindfold, so you cannot tell which is which). I'd be willing to wager that you notice no difference at all.
