Default torquing lugnuts-Is a torque wrench accurate?

Hi im just wondering that if a torque wrench is accurate? i mean that its not really accurate but, i am wondering if you use an extensions will it affact the spec of torque ft lbs that im torquing to?

i am using a regular 1/2" craftsman turn dial ratchet torque wrench and using a 3" extension to a double sided socket 19mm that looks like 1.5" when attatch to , also another 3" Socket for the star key lugnut bolt. Im geusing eight to nine inches?

And i am wondering if when i torque it to my Spec will it be less than dialed foot lbs torque AT?

I heard some people saying that if you add extension you will minus the spec that you calibrated it at?

so maybe about 80 so ft lbs and i torque it my wheels lugnuts i torqued it at will be less than 80ft lbs because of the extension? IS that true?

a torque wrench is accurate, only if the torque wrench wasnt dropped since it throws off calibration, any extensions affect the torque spec on the wrench

So for example if i torque my lugnuts or anything else with extensions-
So about 9" extension how off will my spec be? 80ftlbs do i have to turn the dial more or less?

80 ft-lbs applied at one end of a bolt, without or without an extension, means 80 ft-lbs applied at the other. The bigger concern is proper calibration of the torque wrench. The click type are good for literally only so many clicks.

I need an extension, beause i dont got a regular 1/2" socket 19mm so i am using a double sided socket. also i need the 3" key for my lugnuts?
Will i have to add or subtrac my spec to get the right spec?

Whether or not your torque wrench is accurate, is also a concern. To maintain proper calibration on torque wrenches, they have to be re-calibrated on a regular basis.

I was under the impression that (other than the torque wrench being wrong due to a malfunction) only making the HANDLE longer will mess up the specs. I did not think that using a extender or adapter for the socket itself would mess up the specs.

even if it is off, as long as each lug has the same amount of pressure, you don't have to worry about it warping the rotor
