We were working on my friend's 02 Civic Si, trying to get the strut out to install springs, when the knuckle pushed outwards and over-extended the inner boot. Now the axle is longer than before and I can't get it to go back in. I think the "tripod" or whatever it's called inside the joint may have come out of the socket. I tried pushing it back in but it won't budge. I'm currently trying to get the axle out of the center halfshaft but that's not working either at the moment. At this point I don't know what to do, we can't put the car back together until this is fixed.
haha. had the same thing happen recently. if the joint is like the b-series axles you should be able to push it back in. if not you're gonna have to get a prybar and remove the axle.. then undo the clamp on the large end of the boot to get in there.

it's fine now, I took the axle out completely and it sorta fixed itself, so we put it all back together and it's fine.
