Default Brake Master Cylinder Adjustment Procedure

I'm going to be installing a new brake master cylinder this weekend, and was wondering if anyone follows the exact procedure outlined in the Helms factory service manual regarding pushrod clearance adjustment? Do the master cylinders you buy from autozone, advance, napa, come pre-adjusted?

The push-rod should be the same length as the original. If the store gives you the right part, it will be. If it's not the same, adjust it, or return it for one that is.
