Need help deciphering year of my Accord....
Well I'm now driving my sisters Accord and she says it's a 93 but the insurance company says it's an 89. Does anyone have a link to decipher the vin number?
The reason I even car is, the "Maintenance Required" spot is not flagged red. It went yellow for 2 weeks and is now read so I want to get it back to base condition. The car still runs perfect with the red flag. Does that flag help to decipher the year. I see people talking about the check engine light but maybe it is an 89 with a seemingly "old" way of showing engine trouble.
Any help would be appreciated. I was trying to find pulling codes in the search field but was not exactly coming up with any significant results. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology here. I'm a mustang guy so this is my 1st experience with a Honda of any sorts.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

They're COMPLETELY different body styles.
What is the VIN ?
CB should be 90-93 and will be the 3rd and 4th digits.
Did you bother googling a "89 accord" and a "93 accord" ?
Most likely the Maintenance strip you're referring to is cleared by sticking a key through a slot on the dash, similar to the 94-97 Accord.

thanks for the quick reply man.
Vin= 1HGCB7651PA105767 so looks like u were right about the CB portion.
I did look for 89 and 93 accord. I found a few 89 pictures that have flip up headlights. I don't have flip-ups.
Car has 221k on it and was a company car for Honda employees for traveling. I just went and noticed that slot space on the cluster. Never noticed that before. I'll clear it and see if it comes back. Maybe it was a fluke.

Yep, insurance is incorrect then, you have a 90-93 Accord.
Just insert a key into the slot and it should pop back to a green color. It's mileage based.

oh I get it, it's just a flag for owners to stay on top of their schedules. I was thinking it was a MIL and I would have to pull some codes.. thanks
btw, are these OBD1's?? I don't know if I've ever heard of anything with an OBD2 before 96.

That is correct, 96+ is OBDII at least for Accords.
I'm not 100% positive on CB chassis stuff, in fact I've been flat out wrong on certain things, but you may have a 2 pin service connector you can jump on the right side behind the bottom lip of the glove box.
Should be a blue plug that's just got 2 pins in a holder socket, if you jump that with like a paper clip the CEL would flash the code.
