Default 5052 aluminum

Would 5052 aluminum be good for intercooler end tanks? I have welded 5052 before with ease. It's half the price at my local supplier. I'm talking about .125 thickness.

Thanks

Adriano

Ive used it for making endtanks for intercoolers and radiators, its good.. easier to cut and makes less noise when cutting with a band saw.

Thanks. That's what I noticed too, it cuts really easy.

5052 will be fine for intercooler end tanks, it will form a lot nicer than 6061 as well.

I use 5052 for almost everything. I only use 6061 if its cheaper or I cant find what I need in 5052.

It depends on how tight a bend radius your bender does. It's tougher than 5005 and can crack along the bend if its a tight radius and if you're bending along the rolled grain line rather than across it.
I much prefer to use 5005, I find it's much easier to work with.

It's actually a better choice then 6061 as it is more corrosion resistant. 5052 is considered a marine grade.
