what exactly are we looking at and why type of engine is it?

 

The hose highlighted in blue.
It's a D16Y8. I'm workin at gettin rid of the stock induction system I have now. but Honda decided to hard pipe the PCV and whatever the hell this hose is.

Red is PCV, wondering what blue is cause honda piped them together and tied the AIT sensor onto it with a zip tie

 

dood thats a coolant pipe, its there to warm up the throttle body. if you want rid of the steel pipe just replace that section with suitable rubber pipe. off the top of my head i think it goes to the cyl head through the inlet mani! hope this helps

 

I figured it was some sort of coolant pipe. wanted to be sure though.

Also..if I disconnect the thing am I gonna get a face full of coolant? or is it safe to unhook and replace with rubber hosing and not worry about leaking out fluid?

 

Fluid will come out, but as long as the coolant is cool it won't come shooting out.
