My girlfriends got a 2004 Accord 4 door 4 cyl. I recently picked up a set of 19" rims and im wanting to lower it but i'm having a hard time finding picture of the drop I want to see on it. If any of u accord guys can give me some pics or ur opinions on what you would do it'd be greatly appreciated sorry about this im just and integra guy LoL.

how much of a drop are u looking for?

 

I would go for some coilovers. Once someone lowers a car they always decide later that they either want to go lower or higher. With the coilover you can change it without having to buy another suspension. I have a coupe on 19's and in my opinion im pretty low. Now its also gonna depend how low you can go as far as how wide the tires are and what offset the rims are

i have a 2005 honda accord sedan...coilovers sound like a good decision..you also have a camber kit??

 

if your not racing the car is a front camber kit really necessary?
I want to lower my car but don't know if i need a front kit.
would you say its worth it in the long run? i intend to have the car for a very long time.

also, at the moment theirs only new springs, would you recommended i wait till a good set of coil overs come out?

 

You HAVE to have a camber kit in the rear no matter how much you lower car. but the front isnt really needed. I dont have one

 

You dont have to get coilovers. Just the nice thing with coilovers is the adjustability. Thats why I recommend them

Don't the HFP shocks and springs lower the car a little? Not sure if it's in budget but I'm considering them for my accord.

 

Why is a back one needed but not a front?? i would expect to get the front and back since its being lowered??

 

You can see how low my car sits in the front and it only has -1 degree of camber. And 1degree isn't enough to even notice by on the rear if you lower it any more than the hfp suspension which is like 3/4 -1 inch if that you will have massive negative camber. When I first lowered my car it was only about 2 1/2 inches and I had -4 degrees of camber. But the way our suspensions are in the front it basically fixes itself

 

you dont HAVE to get a camber kit for the front or back. just get your toe adjusted. it you dont have an extreme drop like 3in+ then dont worry about a camber kit. the toe will kill the tires faster than camber wear would.


if your just dropping 2in, just get your toe adjusted and you'll be fine. oh and FYI: just because your not racing your car, doesnt mean you dont get a camber kit. a camber kit is for those who dont have money to be going thru tires all year. sure i said you didnt HAVE to get a camber kit, but negative camber will get your tires too.

yeah but our accords come from the factory with -1 camber so that 2 in. knock it even more. But The.Society is right the toe kills tires even more If your toe is out of whack just a little bit your tires will be gone in a week or two. The camber will take about a month or two before it starts to wear badly. Anything more than 2in. drop look around -3 degrees in camber and anthing more 3in. drop your looking at -4 degrees if not more. But the only lowering kit for the gen7 that does not affect your toe or camber is the HFP suspension

 

yeah but sometimes HFP doesnt drop it low enough. lol. theirs is more like a 1-1.5in drop. nothing really noticeable.

 

Won't most drops or coilovers set in after a certain amount of time? By that I mean, doesn't it end up dropping a little bit more after time goes by? I never have had any of my cars dropped/lowered so I have no idea, but I heard this.. Is it true? I was thinking of doing a slight drop but we get mad snow here so I don't even know if it'd be worth the trouble, time, or money.

 

yeah. all springs settle in after about a week or 2 of driving. most manufac. have the drop height of what the drop is AFTER the settle in period tho.

 

dropping it would only be worth it, if you are competing with it

 

I just got some neuspeed sport springs which lowers the front by 1.75 " and the rear by 1.5". i think that since the drop isnt that aggressive it will look good but won't be too low for the winter time. i'll make sure to post some pics to let you see how it looks.

 

Thanks mmmbacon. I'd really appreciate that. Given I am not sure if I truly will want to drop it yet or not. But I'd like some ideas or pics to look at to really see how it would be before I make that decision.
