Default Kinsmen Kart Club Practice @ Dixon 3-29-09

2009 Shake and Bake!!!!

The season may have started already, but V-Force Karting has not missed the plane, train, or automobile. The SVH had just acquired and built a 06 Kosmic T9 equipped with a CR80 engine package.

The mission: Kart break-in and test.

Location: Kinsmen Kart Club (Dixon. Home track)

As we drive out to the track, we notice that the windmill farms were turning. Turning real fast. Quick stop to McDonalds in Rio Vista and off to the track we go. The track was already filling up for practice. This is always a good sign.

As I looked around I noticed improvements to the track that made me smile:

New outposts for corner workers!!! No more hot sun!

Covered Tech!

Ok, now to the drivers.

The SVH and his new whip.

CS and Sticky Throttle (watch the vid, you'll get it.)

Chris took the first session out and was hooked up with the helmet cam. Shameless plug for a great product: Be a HERO!

The first vid was edited by the SVH (he should stick to driving...). Driver was Chris. Cold tires FTL.

Chris didn't finished the first session due to some electrical issues. As he was sorting that out and The SVH and I were doing the final prep work to the kart, the wind started to pick (roughly Mach 2). We saw an EZ Up become an EZ piece of trash after it got airborne. Last time I checked, EZ Ups weren't designed to fly.

Session is done. Darn electrical gremlins...

I set up the camera with a chin mount as the SVH requested.

Unfortunately we didn't get any video from this setup (camera man error). The camera was left on in the truck of the bed and used up all the SD memory. Lucky for me, I had a second SD card on hand. The setup was using the suction mount mounted on the side of the helmet.

Before you watch the video, click on the HQ option. The video is much better. This was my first time using iMovie and the editing is very n00bish.

It was a good day at the track. Time for me to get my rear in gear and fix my kart.

I am always down for a "sponsorship".

And yes, the SVH will be running an 80 for the sprint circuit and a stock moto 125 for the road circuit.

I am definitely getting kart on the brain. I may be able to salvage my crank. I need to do some inspection soon.

The helmet cam (www.goprocamera.com - yes shameless plug) is fantabulous.
