Should I buy it?
My cousin wants to sell his 2001 Civic DX for $6000.00, 145,000mi/manual, it's hard to get him any lower, but the car does have some good features. Polyurathane Body kit, short ram intake, 3 12inch soundstream subs +800W amp, 17 inch rims+tires with only 5,000 miles on them, and the miles are mostly highway miles. The only thing he said likely to go wrong is the clutch within a couple of years. Anything else you guys can forsee happening? Is this a good by or not?
you want to pay HOW much for a 01 DX with 145000 miles? your cuz is tryin to rip you off big time. hell, id sell you my 03 civic with 60k miles for 6k (of course without any mods)
It's just simply not worth that.
And make sure he's replaced that timing belt, it's way past its replacement interval and it's a common failure if it's not dealt with.

I'd say $3000 tops for a car like that.

If you look on www.kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book), it'll even tell you that it's overpriced.
For that kind of money, you could buy a stock model and customize to your personal preference. Sure the aftermarket accessories may appeal to some, however they reduce the value of the car overall, not increase it.
its not worth $4000 lol. I'd say $3000 max. Those mods are gay anyway, huge subs? high power AMP? Bodykit? Its fkn riced out anyway. You dont want ot pay $6k for a riced out civic with 145k miles.
I know this is a Honda forum but please try not to be bias, I was thinking of trading my 97 neon with 61,000mi for an 01 civic DX with 145,000 both in great condition, the neon however I've owned my whole life and known everything that has happened to it. What do you think?
Based on this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2538003
I wouldn't bother with that car. It seems as though it's a serious downgrade from a 97 Neon with less mileage.

i dont really get how thats relavant. And for another 7k? you throw that around like its nothing. Thats more than double the price of the car hes looking at. Thats like saying why buy a new Si? for only 24k more you can buy a corvette.
Where im coming from is for 4 more years and 130,000 less mines on it .. but 7k more ok it kind of evens out, im in payments.. i dont no if he wants to do payments, just giving him a idea of what a dealer has to offer and a private owner has to offer no need to be jumpin down throats!
i paid 7000 for my 2002 civic ex with bolt on mods and 50000 miles. like the other guy said go find a better one and do the mods yourself. i was trying to sell mine for 6000 when i had 100000 miles on it and nobody would do it. and i had just replaced the clutch did all the brakes and mine is in very good condition. i wouldnt do it.
I got my DX last year only w/ 50k miles and a decent set of rims and tires for $8200 from a dealer, which I thought was pretty good deal. I say, not a great deal for you w/ that many miles.
i picked my 02, with wheels, exhaust and sound system up from a stealership in june of last year with 66626 miles for 11 out the door, did i get *** raped.. a bit.. but its well worth it! i say you dont get it, too many miles, too much on price, and a body kit, subs, and short ram intake, ugh its like its old yeller, needs to be taken outta its misery, I know this is a honda forum, but damn someone needs to take that car back to stock..
op get away from this deal, its worse than a dealership IMHO
