Icon2 Should I buy it?

My cousin wants to sell his 2001 Civic DX for $6000.00, 145,000mi/manual, it's hard to get him any lower, but the car does have some good features. Polyurathane Body kit, short ram intake, 3 12inch soundstream subs +800W amp, 17 inch rims+tires with only 5,000 miles on them, and the miles are mostly highway miles. The only thing he said likely to go wrong is the clutch within a couple of years. Anything else you guys can forsee happening? Is this a good by or not?

It's just simply not worth that.

And make sure he's replaced that timing belt, it's way past its replacement interval and it's a common failure if it's not dealt with.

All this tells me, is that the car looks worse than from the factory, slower than stock trim, and louder for no reason.

I'd say $3000 tops for a car like that.

If you look on www.kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book), it'll even tell you that it's overpriced.

For that kind of money, you could buy a stock model and customize to your personal preference. Sure the aftermarket accessories may appeal to some, however they reduce the value of the car overall, not increase it.

"Non quality" parts will slaughter the value of a vehicle to 90% of potential buyers. He's stroking you.

its not worth $4000 lol. I'd say $3000 max. Those mods are gay anyway, huge subs? high power AMP? Bodykit? Its fkn riced out anyway. You dont want ot pay $6k for a riced out civic with 145k miles.

Icon2 Good trade?

I know this is a Honda forum but please try not to be bias, I was thinking of trading my 97 neon with 61,000mi for an 01 civic DX with 145,000 both in great condition, the neon however I've owned my whole life and known everything that has happened to it. What do you think?

Are you looking to modify it at all, or just want a reliable car?

Based on this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2538003

I wouldn't bother with that car. It seems as though it's a serious downgrade from a 97 Neon with less mileage.

i dont really get how thats relavant. And for another 7k? you throw that around like its nothing. Thats more than double the price of the car hes looking at. Thats like saying why buy a new Si? for only 24k more you can buy a corvette.

I got my DX last year only w/ 50k miles and a decent set of rims and tires for $8200 from a dealer, which I thought was pretty good deal. I say, not a great deal for you w/ that many miles.

i picked my 02, with wheels, exhaust and sound system up from a stealership in june of last year with 66626 miles for 11 out the door, did i get *** raped.. a bit.. but its well worth it! i say you dont get it, too many miles, too much on price, and a body kit, subs, and short ram intake, ugh its like its old yeller, needs to be taken outta its misery, I know this is a honda forum, but damn someone needs to take that car back to stock..

op get away from this deal, its worse than a dealership IMHO
