What Types of Security do you have in YOUR car ?
I've been reading alot of these cars getting stolen.
I had mine stolen a few years back..
had dropped like 2k in the car, after working my *** off to pay off the 7k car loan on it.. (thanks POS theives)
And as fate would have it.. the weekend that I decide
"this car is getting to be a thief magnet, better get an alarm installed" is the same weekend that my car gets stolen.. that saturday morning in fact..
So..
Now, I have 2 way alarm and a clutch lock and steering wheel lock..
I'm curious what you guys have..
Also, anyone ever found a steering column housing that locks, for civics.. ? I've found them for US based cars, not JDM cars..
I'm thinking of a way to lock my steering column, so those lazy excuse for humans can't start my car with a screw driver..
Hopefully people will be able to read this post and get a good start on securing their car..

I think overall it'd be a bad idea to mention your security in a board that might be frequented by thieves :/ Needless to say though, my Si is pretty damn secure. **** thieves.
In my opinion the best security is not to live in the ghetto. It seems to have a much higher success rate than in car protection...
Tercel, even not living in a ghetto a lot of respectable or even good neighborhoods gets cars stolen. The previous owner of my Si had an EBP Si stolen from his driveway and it had mad security.
I understand that..
its not i'm asking to post the address of where the car is located.. or the license number... and a diagram of how to bypass your current security implementations.. My thought, is that a column lock would deter about 65 percent of would-be thieves..
But am curious what else is equally as secure
(nevermind the killswitchs and fuel cut-offs..)

I realize it happens in areas that some might not consider a bad area. My EM1 was stolen from a mall in broad daylight in an area that I didn't really consider that bad... Where I live now is really far away from all of the bad areas in MD, and car theft is not a major issue here. I guess I am just lucky.
I am still paranoid as hell though, the thing that makes me feel safer besides the standard security stuff, is the fact that I can see my car from my window. Hopefully by the time the alarm went off, I could be out there with a weapon before they could get away with the car...

I feel ya Tercel, I too am in a much smaller town now without a lot of major issues with car theft, in fact, none that I really know of. I'm still paranoid and my car usually sits outside my apartment building right below my window so that if my alarm goes off I'd probably notice immediately. Otherwise it's in the garage, and that scares the hell out of me - it's a sigh of relief to see it still there every time I come back after having let it sit overnight, despite all the security I have on the car.
Regardless, I know there are at least a couple other EM1s in the area WAY easier to steal than mine, so I don't think I'd be first if I was ever targeted by thieves.

i also live in MD and it gets pretty bad out here, my hatch was stolen 2 years ago and countless friends of mine have also had their cars stolen, now i just rely on parking in a well lit street close to my room, factory alarm, and an array of kill switches
You live in Bmore man that is why. I live about 2 hours south of you. If you want to move out of the city and still be in MD let me know I can tell you about the area...
Victor.m do you get paranoid that when you walk out of the grocery store or out of the mall that you will come back to the car and your lip will be missing? It drives me nuts...

I swear by the Club and Autolock (in addition to the alarm).
It had help saved my 97 Civic. They took the stereo, but not the car. It's just too much work sometimes to saw all of it off.
It may be a strange way to think. Let them take something "easy." In my case, they see it took too long to saw off everything, they took the stereo, and left. Car was sitting in a quiet lot for 10 hrs so they had all day if they wanted to. But the fact that they "got something," they split.
Punks (like people) got to get something for their hardwork. Can't just leave empthy handed.

well i think that the best thing to do ,is to place a masterlock with the long neck onto the steering colomn..basically when u look under by the fuse box u have the steering with the plastic covering it,,remove the plastic cover and then turn the wheel toward one way and place the lock through the whole and lock it..they can't cut the lock or turn the wheel..so if they force it ,then they will break it and it definetly wont go anywhere....also place a alarm, clutch club and steering club and remove your door hinges ..it basically just slows the thiefs down...........
block it in with three other cars every night thats what i do. Plus my room is right above the drive way so i can hear/ see anything goin on out there
A family of 5. No one heard anything.
i use a gun and attach it under the dash so when the alarm goes off 10 seconds later it powers a motor to pull the trigger.
No test Pilots yet though

I know that is why i said i also park it in with three cars every night.
I was going to put a thin wood with a bed of nails 1cm. Cover it with a towel, so it looks like I'm covering up my seat to keep it clean.
When someone breaks in, the first thing they do with strong and quick force is the sit in the seat and closed the door. I'll leave it up to you there to imagine. Will they continue the process to steal the car?
Sorry, I hate criminals.
That is excessive force. Criminals have rights too. I was advise strongly not to do it.
Bed of nails 1cm long hell no I would make it 3 inches long with barbs so that they can take it as a souvenir damn that would leave some stains on the seat. But, you will find out pretty easily who it was because they will be walking funny for a while smack'um in the *** just to make sure (no homo).
Excessive force ha, its not my fault that I forgot one my props for a magic trick I do on the seat when he tried to steal my car. Wonder if they would buy that.

thats a good idea lol
i have an alarm and a peddle lock, but im still parnoid. so shes either in the garage, blocked in the front of my house and in the back where the dogs at
but the worst feeling is when you go to mall and cant really remember where you parked and you start freakin out cause you swear you parked right here and the cars like a row over lol

My original idea was 1", because you don't want to kill the guy with 3", and have him he seriously or permanently hurt. Again, after talking it over with someone, even 1" could do very bad damage. So I made this post with 1cm. And when you add wood board thickness of 1/4, it's only enough to "hurt" the criminal, make him jump out of the car and run.
You touch my family/friends, touch my car or try to break in my home, and it's game on. Anyone would understand that.
Are you kidding? If someone tried to steal my car he/she better hope that I don't catch him, because a sore *** is going to be the least of his/her worries. I just had my car stolen two months ago, and many aspects of my life (i.e getting to work, going to social functions, my grades, etc...) has suffered due to a thief.

I certaintly respect your emotions, as we are all really would feel the same way too.
Since you are in the bay area. My car was in the park & ride lot at Dumbarton bridge in Newark. After my report to the CHP, a patrol car sometimes would park there. This went on for 2 months then it was business as usual - you were on your own again.
Clifford, 50.7x, clifford 210c tracking, Dei 520t back up battery, mini siren, main relay relocated and killed, Full stealth install. Got to luv how the car calls me in 15 sec of the alarm going off. Best money spent. Ever! I got to thank the guru that made me go this route. I walked in on 3 attempts on my car. 2 people caught. Thanks Wrx-killer-sti-eater.
Dude knows his shyt. I used to think if they want it they will get it. That is a crook of bs.
