Hi i have a 94 accord lx automatic tranny. i just bought it and noticed that the d4 light is out and the 2 is out. when driving the tranny shifts hard. can any one help me and let me know what wrong?

 

probably just needs new bulbs.

 

what about the hard shifting? the drive 2 light works again. but the d4 light is still out. does all accords just shift harshly?

 

Try doing a Tranny fluid flush and make sure that you use Genuine Honda atf. That COULD solve you problem.

 

the fluid looks like it might have been changed. i just bought the car. how can i check for a code on this car for the tranny? is hard shifting normal for this car?

change fluid with honda atf and add one can of lubeguard for that should solve the problem

 

If you want to check for a code, you'll first have to replace the D4 light. Once you do that if the D4 light blinks then you know theres a code. If you want to do that, then check out muffinman's cluster removal thread then check out Tamadrummer's cluster dis-assembly thread in the Accord FAQ if you need instructions.
Hard shifting is normal when the Fluid is bad.

 

The d4 light comes in and out when ever it wants. some times when i start my car up the d4 light will be lit up and other times it wont work at all. but now when i drive i fell a vibration by the passangers feet where the trans is. is this most likely the transmission i could even hear the vibration when going between 2nd and 3rd gear. and it also makes this noise when accelerating when turning corners. the trans fluid looks clean and still shifts hard. can a bad exhaust have anything to do with this. please help
