Default Painting wheels: Just the polished lip?

I've searched, and read, and searched and read, and have had no luck finding info on this. I want to buy some gloss black fno1rc's that have a polished lip, and then paint the lip metallic red. I'm so tired of the played out anyone, everyone, and their grandma's having black wheels with a polished lip, and I think black w/red lip on a black car will look pretty nice.

Does anyone know how to paint just the lip, on a set of wheels that already have a polished lip? Thanks in advance. And if you know, or have a link, please take to time to share it with me vs. just skipping over this thread.

Thanks a lot!

Masking tape and newspaper. Any overspray on the tire itself is easily taken off with a sponge and soap. Look through the Accord forums, I think its CD5Tuner that has a set of Super Advan 2's in Black with the Red lip.

Thanks for the input, I think I'm going to use Duplicolor Metal Cast. It looks to be what I am looking for. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Anything you're going to paint needs to be completely de-glossed prior to painting and that rattle can stuff isn't going to last very long...especially on the lip where there are better chances for scuffs and nicks. Even less if you don't use some kind of primer.

id have them powdercoated but thats just me. i also wouldnt do the time attack deal. thats just as played out as the polished lip.

what size wheels are they? see how much powdercoating would cost. check out boneheadperformance.com as a reference to pricing.

Just buy them with the red lip already.
Most of them go for 125 bucks each for 15"s
Rota already has 3 in the scheme you looking for

Also if you google images "black red lip theres also alot of others out there.

haha well... I bought these wheels for my Spec V, and the bolt pattern on them is 4x114.3, which is a tough bolt pattern for wheel designs. The next problem is my Spec has Brembos, which limits me to a very narrow set of wheels to choose from. So I bought some 5Zigen fno1rc's on eBay for 500 bucks shipped, brand new. And the polished lip on black spokes isn't exactly the design I wanted, but the deal was too good to pass up. I looked into powder coating, because I really want them to be bronze, but there is only one powder coat shop up here, and they want like 130 a friggin wheel for powder coating. 8===D';

what size are they? thats kinda outrageous.

i can get 17s done for 65 a piece... and 16s for 60 and 15s for 55

some places dont like doing certain things. like wheels.

theres a place near me that refuses to do wheels.

I'm refurbing my wheels at the minute, thought about this colour but I think I'm going to go with white. They are 7 spoke em1 rims

it IS outrageous, haha. They are only 17's. But the company is more or less a monopoly considering there is no competition for atleast 100 miles. So they charge what they want.
