question about my f22b1
96 honda accord ex vtec
running strong at 237k miles
ok i have just changed the transmission and cleaned the intake so its really been my first time working with a bunch of different components of the f22b1
im sure i can easily put a new exhaust on or change the intake but im wondering about boost. ive seen many posts where people say an f22a boosts much better then an f22b. so its better and safer for the engine to boost if its a non-vtec?
i definitely wanna eventually get some kind of turbo setup. and plan to research a bunch of engines to see which ones are best for tuning and mods. what do you guys think? h22a, f22b, f22a? vtec or non-vtec?
i plan to get an engine and transmission and put it all together outside the car and then just drop it in and hook everythng up

hey, i have a 95 accord ex with the f22b motor, its the close port thats what they call it. ive have it turboed afew times but i always sell it then get it back after people rip turbo parts off it. i just put all new turbo stuff on it and a used turbo. when i started it oil came out the exhaust side of the turbo. i ordered a new turbo so when it comes i'll let you know how it works out

Anyway, there is no "this engine boosts better than this engine". If you plan the entire kit around the motor that you're using by doing your homework properly, taking your time and not cutting any corners (won't get you anywhere when it comes to boost), and have a good reputable tuner set it up for you, you can't go wrong.
The motor you have boosts great, mine was a blast when she was boosted and plans are in the works for a second shot at the snail.
i have been researching the very same question. i have come with some very encouraging information... btw this motor has more torque than almost any other honda(besides h22 sh and f20) there fore every dyno sheet or dyno numbers i have come across have tq to match the hp. the engine also has an 8.8 compression ratio.... nothing but good to hear about these motors.
