Default Think Its Time For Me To Build An EF

hey there guys long time lurker not much at posting, i just picked up a USDM b16a2 yesterday needs to be freshened up.

took the valve cover off just to have a quick boo see if it was scortched to ****.

this is actually my old motor that i had in my old EK about 2 year ago that was pulled due to smokeing (valve seals and basically most gaskets and seal's gone)

thats the old civic there which i now have the motor from
then i sold that picked up this with a JDM H22a

looking now to revive the b16a2 and put it into an EF 4 door, iam going to scout out a shell this week on my day off.

just curious what sort of **** iam in for doing that swap

umm.... cable to hydro tranny conversion.
obd0 to obd1 conversion...
uhh...
it is not THAT hard to do, but it costs money.
I would love to do it... but I am only 17 and living on a part time job. lol.

obd0 to obd1? my motors OBD2

i was wondering about wireing and stuff, kind of got the idea for a P03(i dont think thats right ecu) thats the JDM OBD0 b16 ecu which would wire into the car and not requre me to wire a crank sensor and **** like that.

use a pr3 or pw0 ecu, backdate your sensors and distributor and you can run obd0. Thats what I am doing

yes pr3 thats the one haha works got my brain gone to mush. thats the one (correct me if iam wrong) that has the plexi glass window for seeing ecu codes correct?

so you figure going backwards with the ecu would be easier? inead of depending on a conversion harness and stuff?

you can do an obd2-obd1 conversion and use a p30 ecu and then if you want to keep the hydro tranny you will need the efb2 hasport mount kit or you could just always get a cable transmission and use da axles and thats about it other then wiring the car for VTEC. dont do obd0 go with odb1 its better yo

Depends on the ECU you want to run as well as how well you plan to have it tuned. OBD1 is by far the better choice for tuning. There wouldn't be nearly as many, if any, sensors to swap out as there will be with OBD0 (which will require you to swap injectors and distributor as well). You can run this motor off of most vtec enabled chipped OBD1 ECUs. If you want a 'stock' ECU (won't give you the full potential of that motor) then you can look for the DOHC Del-Sol P30 ECU.

OH - please buy a new camera!

motor came apart a bit today, it appears as if one cyl is a little sludged but the other 3 seem fine once i get off work and get a chance i'll take my camera down the garage get some more photos, also shell hunt tomorrow, ive found a 91 4 door 5 speed in good shape (keep in mind iam in eastern canada surrounded by salt water salt used on the winter roads) with a toasted motor for pretty friggin cheep, iam sort of excited.

intake manny is off the car, waiting on cherry picker to get back to the garage, and probably going to try to pick up a proper engine stand for the job.

ive also found a 93 DA integra with a b18B in it just curious if its worth my pick up, what could i use from this swap? would the 93 DA tranny be cable correct? and iam pretty sure i need the axel's, i also need a trans so this would be a good opertunity what else is of use?

There's nothing wrong with going obd0. BRE is very much like crome and people have lots of success with it

yeah the 1/4's have been done but iam not really that concerned, as it stands the car should actually pass a nova scotia inspection. the bodys solid, not the best of shape (it was repaired previous, but not a 'mint' job just done to get er through a winter a driving and stuff) body works down on my list, right now iam looking at trying to get this thing together and on the road all said and done for under $1500 :D
