sunroof rattling broken drive plastic piece
I have removed the sunroof assembly from my 1990 CRX Si. There are two plastic parts that are on either side of the slider portion of the roof. These parts attach to the rails and are driven by the motor assy, thus sliding in the rails to lower/raise the roof. The part on the driver's side (L) is broken and I do not see any way to remove the housing in which the clip resides for a replacement, even if one was available, or a repair. I am convinced that the bounce forces from the KYB shock/lowering springs on the vehicle put unnatural strain on this plastic part on an angle other than for which it was designed.
Question 1: Has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, how have they repaired the plastic?
Question 2: Does anyone have any parts/pieces from a subroof that they are willing to sell?
Question 3: Obviously the KYB parts are too stiff for my liking, what other brands offer the lowering characteristics with a less violent more compliant ride?
Thanks,
Ed Fisher

My sunroof didnt close completely..one side would stay up
Took it down couldnt figure out what to do.
Went thru 2 other sunroof assemblys I got on ebay
They all had the same problem.
Out of fustration went to the stealer and bought a new sunroof tray and
EVERY single moving part.(yea lots of $$$)
Then I sat down with the brand new tray and all the parts
took the old one side by side, taking it apart and figuring how it all goes together.
Took me a good 4 hours but got it done. Basically a brand new assembly.
The plastic sliders your talking about is a complete assembly with the cable.
You can get that part from the dealer. I believe its around 60 or 70 bucks.
When you go to the dealer you can see it on the sunroof schematic.
Its pretty difficult to repair the plastic tabs, the metal casing that there in is spot welded closed.
Hope this helps.

It helped a lot, and by your description I can tell that you know exactly which piece that I am talking about. I have since learned that it is called "cable slider".
I called the dealer and neither that piece, or the entire cable assembly are available any longer. sigh.

Thanks! Hope you have it.
Ed
wow, they dont have it anymore
that sucks!
I learned the hard way that was the only part I really needed.
If I was you I would call as many dealers as possible, a dealer someplace might have one sitting around. Worth a shot.

Does anyone have an old sunroof frame laying around from which they would be willing to scavenge a few parts? I need the cable slider as shown on page 14-43 of the following pdf file. I also need a rear stopper or two (preferably two).
