According to my expert you want the stiffer springs in the rear IF you have had any serious experience racing the car on the track. If this is a daily driver and you have little track time go with the higher rate up front-you can generally reverse them if they are the same height and diameter like Skunk2 or Ground Control Eibachs.

I only ask because I was looking at the spring rates for Tein and all of their coilovers are higher spring rate in the front and lower in the back

Go with the higher spring rate in the front, that is where the majority of the wieght distribution is. If you want a drag car, and only a drag car then go with the higher spring rate in the rear. That will give you more traction on your launch. I have skunk2 coilovers with 450lb front/350lb rear and using KYB AGX 4-way adjustables. I have the dampening set on 2 front/rear for street and 3 front/rear at the track. That is the key for best turn-in cornering/fast cornering without loosing traction. The job of the spring is to support the sprung weight of the vehicle, so put the higher spring rate where the weight is.

How do you use the car? For a street car, the 450F/350R will give a smoother ride and safer(understeer) handling characteristics. If you plan on autocrossing the car, then you want the 450's in the rear to help the car rotate.

Let me ask this question...

I ordered Koni Sports (yellow) and the rear shocks are so much larger than the fronts. It seems odd that the rears are larger than the fronts due to weight. Why is this? Passengers and weight movement?
