The p28 is a vtec ecu, but its for a single cam. You'll need either a p72, p30, or a chipped ecu is your best option because you'll be able to get the full potial of the ls-vtec motor you have.

I could be wrong but isn't the idea to have a seamless crossover? Otherwise you're losing power before vtec engages. Too many people get caught up in what they hear, but ideally you'd want a seamless engagement.

Sounds like you need to work on your ls/vtec skills some. Stock block and head? The stock P28 is a real bad idea to start with. Have you done a compression test?

try to check the seals on the vtec solenoid... maybe ur not getting proper oil/pressure to it... but agreed with the seamless engagement... vtecs just a helper on the cams...i feel nothing more then boost when i drive my car..

If you "feel" VTEC that means there is a large dip in power right before the cam lobe switch.

You should probably read through and review this thread thoroughly:

i had the same problem with my swap. i had a p28 ecu with a b16a and vtech works but no power is coming out. so what i did was tighten up my intake and loosen the one screw on the throtle body for a/f using my friend skunk 2 ecu. and it was a beast afterward. oh yea i also taped my vtech into a manual button switch to test for vetch. see if this work cause it worked for me

good luck

^^ wtf?

I'm pretty sure you experienced a placebo effect. B16As don't start making power till 7k+. Before then, it's just noise. They don't pull when VTEC engages. An ECU and a TB bolt is not going to change that.

OP: which trans are you using? If you still have the LS trans, you may just not be feeling a pull because the gearing is so high. Don't expect anything too drastic as far as a change in pull. I mean you should be able to feel a little bit...but nothing like most ricers would have you believe.

you do sometimes. H22s and F20Cs are engines I've owned/driven that you can definately feel it.

My friend's preludes front end totally lifted up (not off the ground, but you know what I mean) and the car pulled like crazy after VTEC engaged.

My S2000 is a night and day power wise after 6k RPM. If it rains or I wash the car and the filter gets damp (CAI), you can't really hear VTEC, but you can DEFINATELY feel the car pulling way harder after 6k in any gear.

Well if it's fuel that isn't being delivered you would feel a halt, but it is a nice upgrade.
