Rim + Tire size?
- Hi, My gf has the 06 Civic 4DR and we were looking for rims.
She wants 19's.
My question is.. what tire size, offset, and rim width do i need to get for it not to rub?
(I dont want to "roll" the fender)
If its not possible with 19's then what about 18s?
My brothers gf also has an 08 Civic 4DR. She has 18's x 8 with 225/40/18 and they rub with one or two people sitting in the back seat.
I dont want that.
Also.. can someone explain what the offset on rims means?
EDIT: i found some 18x8 rims with an offset of 35mm.. what bolt pattern does the car need? would this fit without rubbing or will it rub since its by x8?
Thank you.

the Si comes stock with 18" rims. i think the tires are 215 though, so they arent quite as wide as the ones on your friends car. im not sure about the offset thing myself. sorry
im wondering if these fit..

OP: Biggest I would suggest is 18 inches if you have an Si or I would just go +1 if it's not.
Si: 215/45R17 (Stock); +1: 225/40R18
Non-Si: 205/50/R16 (Stock); +1: 215/45/R17; +2: 225/40R18; +3: 225/35R19; and so on.
Offset is the measured distance from the face of the wheel to the center of the wheel. For instance, if you had an 18x8 +35, the center of the wheel would be 4" from either the outside or inside of the wheel, and the 35mm would be how far the face is from the middle. The positive offset is how far outward the wheels face is relative to the centerline of the wheel. Negative offset would be how many mm the face of the wheel is behind the centerline of the wheel (further back into the hoop of the wheel when looking at the face/spokes).
With the wheel you listed, I'm pretty confident that you run into some rubbing issues.
As for bolt patterns, it's listed in the manual but here it is also: PCD 5x114.3
Stock is 17 inches, not 18.

No you can get 18's from honda. They are HFP wheels. They are considered factory oem wheels. So 18" wheels are stock too
what would i need to get to not cause rubbing then?
EDIT: For the MSR Wheels.. being 18x8 with +35mm offset with 225/40R18 tires (mentioned above) would cause rubbing?
What if i went with a 35 size tire?
When looking at the spec sheet.. i dont see the bolt pattern on there? or am i wrong?
EDIT: his talking about this.. its for the Si only
would it fit the regular Civic too? (dimension wise)

So i called the Honda dealer here and they dont even have the 18" wheels in their system.
The regular 17" they carry are 17x7 with 215/45/17.. He said if they were going to be 18 it would have to be 18x7 with 225/40/18.
The problem is no aftermarket 18inch rim comes 18x7.. lol

^I think that would look funny. Wide and large diameter wheel with a low profile tire will make you look like you're on dubs. This may go in your gf's favor considering she wanted to go with 19-20" wheels.
Note: HFP's come in 18x7.

my brothers gfs car looks nice with 18x8 with 225/40/18.. but it rubs..
is there something i can tweak somewhere to make it fit?
will a specific offset work? or try to find a 18x7.5 rim?
or where can i get the car fender rolled?

Well that depends on what "rims" you're looking for. Higher end wheels come in a variety of offsets from +30-+50 and in diameters of 17, 18, and 19" with a width in 7, 7.5, 8, 8,5, 9.0". Now if you're looking at random wheels from your local tire shop good luck.
Check out tirerack.com, input your vehicle and they will filter out all the sizes that will not fit your car as well as give a tire size recommendation.

im not looking to spend too much.. haha but then again the car could end up mine later on so why not spend a little more..
what kind of an offset should i be looking for?

When going through tirerack they don't give you the option of choosing offset. I don't know what the stock offset of the fa1's are, but I would suggest anything from the range of +48 to +35. The wheels I'm looking to get are in the 17x8(8.5) +35(+30)mm. With these specs I can get the wheels to become more flush with the fender. This is just my preference mind you.
i know.. with x8 rims.. the wheels are flush.. i dont know the offset on my friends but im going to find out tomorrow..
but arent you going to run into rubbing issues with that?
even if they are 17s?

i think 17s look small on that car.. hah .. i kind of want the 18s . darn. i guess ill go look at rims and see .. but no buying! haha not going to waste money.
my brother doesn't even know what to do with the 18x8 he got his gf. rubbing like crazy.

So if i get these..

18x7.5 +40 on 215/40R18.. it would be perfect? and it would actually give a little more room just incase since the offset isn't as much?
wonder what size the backspacing on the Mugen wheels are..
EDIT: is it possible to get replacement center caps with the honda logo on it?

does anyone know if shes is any major change between the regular civic and the Si civic when it comes to suspension parts and wheels.
im asking because i find it weird that they only offer the 18" wheels for the Si and not the regular civic.
even for the fitment on some other website, it says Si only.
is there something i should be looking into?
sry i dont know anyone with an Si .. i know three people with regular civics..
too lazy to drive stick. lol
