Default GSR intake with secondary butterfly removed...

Hi!

Bought a gsr 96+ motor today and I just noticed that the intake is missing a part: the secondary butterfly "plate" thingy. He just bolted the plenum to the runners.

I wonder why he did that. What is it going to affect exactly? I'm putting a original USDM P72 ECU on it if that is important.

What are my options? Keep it as is, find another GSR intake ( or other brand), use another ECU to change something in the configuration... I don't know what do do

Thx!

You re definately going to need a complete gsr intake manifold if you run a p72. The person who own the motor before thought the motor would get more airflow for increases horse power. All it does is ruin low end torque. Or get a single plane manifold like blox,skunk2, whatever and get an chipped ecu with a tune. You'll see some gains. I drove on a p72 with a blox manifold for a good year and drove fine. Just didn't see the any gain in power until higher in the power band and vtec was on the fritz because of the removal of the secondaries. Once tuned on a p28 obd1, It was a whole new animal.

Ok then... The search begins for another gsr intake manifold to work with what I got. I'm keeping it stock for now.

btw the guy had put it in a crx so it was obd1. Maybe that's why...

Thx
