cd deck install?? what more do i need?
OK i know this isn't mechanical but move it if you went, i have my cd deck in my car, there is NO metal cage that holds the player there is NOTHING its just one big empty hole with my deck laying there, the guy at the stereo store said i need these plastic things or something either from a civic at the junkyard or get them from honda. what pices are these i dont know what to look for so i cant go order them or look for them thanks if anyone has a part number anything! thank you
you should always use a metal cage that comes with the cd player as that is what attaches to the dash kit or factory dash to keep the cd player in place. Any decent stereo shop should have some extra cages laying around. for the CRX/EF you dont need a dash kit just the metal cage secured into the dash

i want mine to look nice.
mine does look nice. it just comes out easier. lol. i guess it depends on how wide the unit is also. i have noticed that the free cd player i have is a little wider than the panasonic i have in my jeep.
you need the stereo piece from honda or junk yard, good luck with the junkyard, i get mine from honda, 20.00. because the "cage" gets mounted to it when people remove their decks when they sell their cars they typically just unscrew the plastic trim and keep it which leaves you with the hole your stuck with now. not a big deal just visit your local honda dealer they should be able to help you out.
You can get a Dashboard mounting kit from Wal-Mart for like 10 or 15 bucks. jhammond 82 is right, but if you want it to be flawless your going to need the cage with the dashboard kit, because if the cage is used correctly, the only way to get it out is to unscrew the mount kit. The deck won't budge, jiggle, or rattle. Search EBAY for a cage, or go to a local exchange store or better yet a local stereo store, and they are for sure able to order a cage for you. It shouldn't be expensive at all.

i dont think a dash kit is available, i tried the walmart thing and couldnt find one till i called up a buddy at the bestbuy car audio department, stated that the ef's dont use dashkits and even they just order from honda when that part is missing on customer cars.
Nice! Didn't know that the ef's don't have the dash kits. I haven't hooked my system up yet. A good friend of mine owns his own car audio shop. Its called "shake somethin car audio". Tell me what type of deck u got an series it is, an maybe the part # or serial # on the bottom. He's always got spare parts layin around, I can see what I can do for u then p.m. U if u want.

Depending what kind of radio it is, any cage will work. Go to Best Buy and generally most techs are pack rats and will have an extra cage from when he did an ISO mount. If the cage is not for your vehicle, and the spring clips on the side do not fit the radio, you can do a little bit more work and drill a hole into the sides of the cage where the ISO mount holes are, and put an appropriate sized screw into it. This way is cool because then it makes it a little bit more difficult to steal.
You need this bezel in the console to mount the radio. It is not an aftermarket part, so if you are missing it go to the junkyard. The "cage" mounts in this bezel piece and holds the radio from falling all the way back.

Here is a pic of the tabs you bend to hold the cage to the bezel.

You should buy a wiring harness just to make your life easier.

ISO is where the stereo bolts to the plastic surround. This is what I used in my work van, no metal trap needed.
