well heres the thing my cars been running like $hit so bad i got a cel. anyway i havent tuned it up since i bought it cause the guy i bought if from did it like 2 months before i bought it so i figured its bout that time so i get the parts take the cap off line up the screw on the rotor and go to take it off but its stripped i used every size phillips and flat head i had and no luck. any one got ideas? dont really want to spend the money on the bolt extractor kit but if i have to i have to.
here are a few tricks, first if the head is not to bad badly stripped and you can still get a philips to fit in dip the tip of the screw driver into valve grinding compound then insert into the screw. now insted of trying to twist the screw out press down on the screw and use several short hard snaps of the wrist to try an brake the screw loose. if that doesn't work you can try using a small set of cutters to bite into the side of the screw head and just like with the valve grinding compound snap your wrist hard see if that brakes it. I have never had these 2 ways fail me getting any screw out
ive had this problem too...Heres what i did cuz mine was completly stripped. I had to use a cutting plier and basically just cut off the old rotor. It came apart in peices..Once i had it all removed i had just the stipped out screw threaded into the shaft, I just used a pair of vice grips locked onto the sides of the screw and twisted it out..Its not the most pretty way of doing it but it was my only choice at that moment..And of course it cost me a rotor..But there was no damage to the distributor shaft or anything else once i was done.
