Default Transmission parts?

My car is a 1983 honda civic 1500Dx with a 5 speed tranny. I was wonder what the transmission number was, and where i would be able to get some parts for it. I think my synchro rings are worn out because the gears grind if i put it in first going above 15 mph. I also believe the reverse gear is chiped because it makes a like clack clack clack sound when i back up.

Thanks.

I forgot to add that today when i was leaving the house, i shifted into second and let out the clutch pretty quickly with out pressing the gas pedal. After this happened there was no resistance when i pushed the clutch in and the rpms stayed up for a few seconds. After I stoped and started moving again the clutch still had no resistance but it still managed to hold and not slip. I put the car in neutral and pumped the clutch a few times and it was back to normal. But after a few stops, there was less and less resistance again. Anybody have any idea whats going on??

I got the clutch problem resolved. It turns out that the cable was binding and that the clutch isnt suppose be as hard as it was to push. lol

I still need the tranny number though.

I wouldn't be shifting into first gear while moving. 2nd gear in these cars is plenty short to do everything except starting (though I have started in 2nd with hardly any clutch slipping). I suppose you can, but I don't really think it was designed to.

Is there a code on the transmission still? Or has it worn off? The little gold sticker (why it was a sticker and not an etch, I'll never know). I don't know if any parts place will necessarily look up your parts by code anyways, usually just make / model / submodel. It's going to be hard to find OEM parts for sure, but maybe check 1stgencivic.org, they have a whole 2g Civic subforum.

I didnt see any numbers on the transmission so thats why i asked. The little sticker is probally long gone. Ill call around and see what i can find. If that doesnt work, ill check out 1stgencivic.
Ill be changing the clutch soon since its original and I figured I would fix the other minor issues as well.

Thanks.
