Default rebuilding gsr... couple questions

Going to rebuild my 95 gsr. Looking at a regular rebuild kit (stock pistons) found kit for $400. Was wondering if there was anything thats not too much more money that mite give it a little more kick. Kinda like getting a rebuild kit for the b18c5, would that work? is it worth it? Any info or suggestions are helpful.

also how far off oem can you go without messing around with tuning?

well you get what you pay for $400 i mean that is cheap and some of the parts will not hold up....you better off biting the bullet and go with stock honda parts...that is just my 0.02

my buddy got this cheap water pump for his GSR and the gear came off and bent alot of valves

as stated from the previous posts. make sure you get OEM replacement kits. and if you plan to, get the b18c5 rebuild kit. ir'll give you more kick and you also wouldn't have to worry too much on tuning and stuff.

I just did a gsr rebuild with RS machine pistons, hasting rings, acl bearings, and felpro gasket sets for about $425. Granted, you can also go with cheaper or more expensive parts, that's up to you. Also, that kit you listed was over $630.
