my car overheated yesterday, i didnt notice the temp till it was smoking and all my coolant leaked out. i was nowhere home so i had to drive it and then turn it off and wait and drive again. took me forever to get home. this morning i have white smoke coming out of the exhaust. i already filled my reservoir back up with coolant. my idle is stuck at 2500 and it goes from that down to 1k and back up over and over again. i know white smoke usually means a head gasket, but would that cause my bad idle?

 

It the head gasket alright...you have coolent going into your engine and causing both bad idle and white smoke as it gets burned. Don't run it like that for long, it will ruin your rings

change you head gasket then buy about 3 times worth of oil for 3 oil changes. I had same prb before when i did a z6 swap in my crx the intake gasket was bad..anyway warm oil up and let it drain out so you get all of that milk brown out good enough then give her a clean oil change and you should be good.

 

you should fill the radiator up, not jus tthe reservoir, speacially if the coolant got burned/leaked out

it is all because of your head gasket get that fixed asap
