H22 FI Guys...Anyone run w/o balance shafts
Just curious if any has any input on running without these.
Is the harmonic risk to just the bearing surfaces or is it all internals (rods/pistons/crank)?

I've wondered about that myself... I read that the Team L'Natural H22 motors dont' run them... but I've also read another story... I think it was on h22a.org... about the crank splitting cause the balance shaft belt let go.. I could be wrong..
I think I read that you can free up to 10hp by not using that belt, but I wouldn't tinker with that unless it won't cause any un-reversable damage.. but way too much time and money into my motor to blow it up.

Machine shop told me that they are not needed. You may feel a little more vibration in the cabin, but nothing major.
when you guys talk about no balance shaft, are you guys just taking the belt off or are you guys taking the the shaft itself out? if so i thought you need the shaft in so that you can will have oil pressure?
