I have a jdm d15, and whenever I fill up on reg it makes this weird "scratching, crackle, pop" (seriously) whenever I accelerate. It only does it on reg and not on premium. It sounds god awful, and for the time being i just fill up on premium (with the low gas in NJ its like 20 bucks to fill my tank, i figure if i can afford it why not go for it). So what the hell do I first start looking at to diagnose this problem?

 

Well, before you get banned due to that other thread, i'll help you out.

You first need to check your ignition timing with a timing light, and adjust as necessary.

If the ignition timing is fine, inspect your spark plugs. If the spark plugs appear to be in good condition, check your cap and rotor for wear. Also, are you spark plug wires in good condition?

 

yeah, i actually just did a tune up with new wires and plugs. The only thing i didnt do was a cap and rotor. it sucks because no one around here will even touch my car since its swapped and I do all my work at a friends garage (his timing light broke).

Im pretty certain its something with the timing, i just wanted to see what else it could be before I buy a light and start tearing **** apart
