Is a t3 turbo bad for a GSR integra?
Just bought my turbo kit from a local
It's a t3t4e turbo kit (on a side note, does the e-trim mean it's ball bearing?)
However, I really don"t feel like running such a large turbo on my car for fear of blowing my engine,
It's an intercooled set-up and I'm goinig to keep it at 5 psi, so what I was thinking was trading it to a friend for his t3 turbo off hihs SAAB + misc items, however, alot of the local shops around here are telling me that the t3 turbo will blow my engine quickere than the t3t4 because the integra is such a high revving engine? Any opinions anybody would like to point out for me? TIA

Well,
It seems as I'm getting the wrong end of the stick, but in reality I'm getting a pretty good deal, at least I think
2 spearcos racing seats
t3 turbo in exchange
Blitz Super Sequential BOV
So what now?
Anywho, Is it true about what they said about the t3 being bad on the high-revving GSR engine, it's a 96 GSR BTW
And does the t3to4e signify that it's a e-trim ball bearing?
Thanks for looking out anyways guys

e trim just means the turbo is bigger...as compared to the b trim..anyways, im no expert on the t3 turbo on an integ but im assuming it will just spool faster compared to the t3/t4...but for the 1.8L, id just stick with the t3/t4oe...just set it at 5psi, properly tuned on the dyno, and change oil, and it should be reliable...
DONT trade..... most likely the saab turbo will have NOTHING up top for your car.just stick with what you got and you WILL be VERY HAPPY!!!!! trust me.and run at least 6 psi

Well, now i'm thinking about keeping the damn thing since you guys are making a point on it, HOWEVER
I'm still curious as to "IF" and "WHY" running a small turbo on the GSR is considered bad?
Would you guys consider running the t3 turbo in the gsr not appropriate?
How about a t-25? (don't ask, I was just thinking)

it's bad because you will have the same probems that i'm having, boost drop-off and less power production in the top end.The t3t4 will make more power then the t3 will at the same boost level, the engine will much more happy with the larger turbo

What they are not telling you (as far as I understand) is that the t3 will realize it's potential way too early in your power band. This causes your efficiency to drop like a rock. What will happen is the turbo will try to compress too much air and will end up just getting really hot. Hot air that is not very compressed = bad for your motor. Sice the t3/t4 is bigger, it will take longer to spool up and will be more "at home" near the top of your power band. The t3/t4 should not have the problems compressing the air at those high rpms, that's what they are talking about when they say that it will make more power at the same psi and rpm, because it is still within it's effecincy range where as the t3 will not be. I would personally keep the bigger turbo. Many people use that specific turbo on applications similar to yours for a reason (which I already stated). Also, I have heard it before, a hundred thousand times, "Once you try boost, you get addicted, then you want more, and more, and more." The very few turboed cars that I have driven have been stock, and trust me, once you boost your car, if you gave away that powerhouse, you'll kick yourself in the *****.
P.S. I have been a member of this site for over a year and I have learned most of what I now know about turbos from here and Highaltitudeimports.com. If anything that I said was wrong or out of line please correct me, as this is my first true test to see if I have learned anything.

2000rpm: its spooled whoopie yay im boosting down low with hardly any turbo lag
4000rpm: where the hell is my boost? oh wait this tiny pea shooter turbo cant flow that much CFM boy am i a tool for trading my T3/T04e.
On second hand, disreguard what i just said, ill trade ya my T25 for your T3/T04e. Spools up quick
Everyone makes a good point, if you trade and you want more power later then your gonna be stuck with a turbo that will only do so much so you will have to spend money to upgrade the T3. On the other hand if you dont want more power later a T3 will be perfect for you.
This is a dyno of a straight T3 on my ITR and I rev higher than your GSR and it still works awesome for me. I love how the T3 spools instantly because my car is a everyday driver and I want power now not 2-3000 rpms later.
This is at 8lbs so you would probly make somewhere around 220-230 with 6lbs.

I think people may be bashing the T3's a little too much.
What about a super-60 trim T3? They flow pretty good throughout the power band...right?!

wont boosting with a t3 give you too much power down low where wheel spin is a problem, esp. on wet surfaces? front wheel drive and all. had a bud with a 16g on an accord and he couldn't keep his tires from slipping alot of the times. plus when your power band is up high you can drive like stock below 4k but when you're in the mood just keep your feet down
