that kind of thing really depends on your turbo/kit bolt ons etc...

But a good starter point is to run something under 10PSI maybe 7 or 8. Your goin to get it tuned right?

how can you say 220 is the max?!?!

I've personally run a bone stock Z6 on 16 pounds of boost daily driven and it was well over 220 horses. I'm not trying to say he should do that but it can be done and if tuned correctly it can be safe.

You don't necissarily have to have it fully tuned on Hondata, Neptune, AEM etc.. but you'll need at least an FMU and missing link. The FMU's kinda old school and some say ghetto but it's a cheap easy way to run a low PSI daily car that can be pretty quick. but if you have the money deff. get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing! It's worth it

absolutely. if you said you want it to be RELIABLE, then it's an absolute MUST to get a tune or at least a basemap, none of that VAFC street tuning, get a REAL tune or it won't last as long as you would like it to, or get the gas mileage for the horsepower you are putting down.

yessir. im taking it to auto logixs in houston. they got some sick set ups there. the motor is stock. it just got swapped before i bought it. and instead of going through the trouble of a swap i went turbo D series. SOHC FTW!! but yea no bolt ons. jsut stock. turbo kit is a airesearch. all the other parts are respectable names as well

no higher than 8 psi without a tune.

I've seen up to 18-20 psi on a stock motor, just had a really good tune.

it all depends on what obd your car/motor is and what ecu you have in it. if u need a conversion harness p28 ecu or p06. and what software you are planning on using.

with ecu and converison harness with uberdata- 300-500

without ecu and converison harness-150-300.

with ecu converison harness and neptune or somthing the same about 400-600

without out ecu and conversion harness and neptune 250-400

all different turners have different prices

o thats for a dyno tune btw.

street tune is cheaper.

i believe the D15B is a JDM motor..im not really a jdm person..i could care less about jdm but it does come vtec..the head should have some kind of code on it..like P06 or sumthin like that..

sometimes people get kinda crazy here on honda-tech and they start to lose their heads..they dont read what people want..YOU SAID YOU WANT IT TO BE RELIABLE AND NOT TO BLOW IT UP..

you said nothing about how much power can i get out of a stock block..and you're not trying to push it to the limit..

my stock motor blew up making 220whp on 9lbs..bent a rod..but really who cares about my motor..

you want something fun..that you can drive everyday and be reliable..6 or 7 lbs should be plenty fun with a small turbo..once you start getting into ecu tuning your car becomes less reliable..but yes it is nice to have the car tuned..and anytime you boost a motor there is that possiblity that it will blow..something..anything can happen..but good luck..

sorry to get off the topic but to say that your motor blew because the oil pump sucks is pretty funny..you heard someone else say that about the y8 motor and you're repeating it..either your motor was run low on oil at one point..or your oil pump failed..or your revving ur motor to high..or if it was a built motor your clearances may not have been right..dont get me wrong..i have heard that the y8 oil pumps dont like high rpm but i still rev mine to 8300

noob here. i have a few question.

first, i have an acura 1.6 el and it has a stock d16 motor sohc vtec, what kind of turbo would be good for it?

second, im planning to keep it stock for now and maybe upgrade a few parts as i go along, what should be the safe psi for it?

lastly, what is better? boost it or just get a dohc swap?

thank u..
