has anyone dropped an skyline r33-r34 engine in a lude? or know someone who has? thanks!

 

my neighbor did last week.

 

why would you want to do such a thing. you would be an outcast. none of the Honda guys would want to hang out with you b/c you abandoned Honda. and none of the Nissan guys would want to hang out b/c you defaced a Skyline engine by putting it in a Honda.


stick with an H22.... or better yet, if you want something cool, put the S2K power/drivetrain into a Lude.... if i could find a totaled S2K with the power/drivetrain intact, i would do that swap for myself

 

Hope you know how to weld.

 

Forget the skyline engine, and the s2k, if you want any real power go for a Chevy 350 with two blowers and run it on ethanol.

 

and have a lot of money.

 

yeah that was me it was cake, there is plenty of room for the extra 2 cyl. and the twin turbo setup, routing the drive axel to the rear was a pain but nothing a little jb weld couldnt fix

yea we are all a bunch of haters because we have the common sense not to waste thousands and thousands of dollars to TRY to have a motor work right thats designed for a RWD in a honda. Sorry, but i dont think this guys name is stephan papadakis and i seriously doubt he has the money to pull this kind of swap off. Personally, if i had the money to do this swap i would say **** that and i would buy a 240 and put the sr20det in it, no wait... if i had the money id buy a 240 and put a RB26DETT in it. Dont assume we are too dumb or poor to do it, we just have the common sense NOT TO DO IT. You are new to this board obviously and dont know the extent of the knowledge that we have bottled up inside of us.

And for the dude that posted this topic. You are in HONDA-Tech.com. Newbie questions like "Can you put a Skyline engine in a Civic?" makes you look.....well, like a NEWBIE. With 5 overall posts, I think it would be wise to stick around and read all you can. I'm sure anything is possible with enough money, but WHY would you want an RB26DETT in a Honda? The chassis's are totally different, Honda's are made for FWD applications, while the Skyline is AWD/RWD. You'll have to cut up the entire frame, plus make a custom driveshaft, then figure out a way to run the entire thing. Don't think it'll bolt up to the Honda's wiring harness, do you?

So basically, it's possible with enough money...but it's not PRACTICAL. The amount of $$$ you spend on this "custom" setup, you can buy a real R34 and make it run 10's. So, again I ask...WHY?

first off since when was a skyline rwd? r34-gtr=4wheel drive... the only reason i thought of this idea was i have never seen any 5th gen ludes being that fast as in 11's even... and i see none stop skylines r-33-34 hitting 9's full interior and +700hp.... so i wanted to know if any body has done it.....do you have a better idea to get a 5th wiht about 10k hitting 11's or possilby 10's? is so tell me.... in the mean time shut the **** up, just cause i have an idea doesn't mean i'll do it...

 

yeah and to you blue shadow, when you become wealth you tend to get lost with all the money you have. and i know most of you will never know what i mean (due to the fact you will never become millionairs...) you get intresting ideas... i already thought about turboing a 360 MODENA F1, but that idea gave in within acouple of hours...

hey guys i saw a mustang run a 7.44 on the quarter mile last night, is there anyway i can drop this guys engine into my prelude? for some reason the stock prelude only does like a 15 on the quarter, so i thought if i put his engine in my car it would run 7s. th@nks gUyZz

Ok, first of all, you do know that the Prelude wasn't designed and built for "DRAG RACING" purposes, right? The reason why you haven't seen a 5th Gen hit 10's or 11's is because no one in their right mind will build such a car. You can get a $500 hatch, throw in a built motor with a huge turbo and run 10's for WAY cheaper than trying to do it with a heavy 5G Lude. You wouldn't use a screwdriver to pound in a nail, would you? Sure, you can sorta get the nail in, but a hammer would do the job much easier. Get my point?

If you want to build a 5G Prelude to run 10's, then go for it. You're going to need ALOT more $$$, and alot more RESEARCH.

 

yeah well belive me i have more then enough money..... i just thought of that idea cause i never drive my prelude anymore...

 

Then import a skyline and convert it to LHD, that would be way cooler than a skyline engine in a prelude, and probably cost the same
