ls vtec no spark
i have a ls vtec i went to fire it for the first time today after turning it over for 30 seconds without plug wires and when i went to fire it i was not getting spark. its a brand new dizzy, all the fuses are good, checked grounds. Thermostat ground is ok, there is a ground to the tranny, and a ground to the valve cover. Any advice?
thanks
thanks
The Dizzy gets spark via the ignition switch. On the drivers side shock tower there are the plugs that you plugged the engine wiring harness to the chassis wiring harness. The small 2 wire plug with large wires is the power to the ignition. Take a volt meter and confirm that those two wires have power.
Once that is confirmed I would also confirm that the distributor is getting power through the engine harness. Use the voltmeter to test everything. If it is getting power then I would check the coil and make sure it is within spec to the service manual.
If the distributor is not getting power then it could be an ignition switch issue, but it is unlikely if it worked before the swap.
Is the distributor OBDI or II?
