H23 Rebuild, need some advice.
Well, after two used motors (both of which blew after a while), its time to rebuild the original motor from my Lude. (Bad front main seal leak that no new seal could fix, not even with a speedy sleeve). Anyways, I've got the original block, with good pistons, rings, and cylinder walls. And I've got two other blocks. One is junk, and the other has a good crank in it. I believe my original crank is bent and that the rod bearings need to be replaced. I was thinking about taking my original block, swap crank from the other block, and give it some new rod bearings. Is this wise?? My prelude has to get done. I'm sick of buying motors where I don't know where they came from. question is, what is acceptable rod bearing clearance? I was thinking about getting new ones from honda after I find out what colors I need (bearing color). I know this sounds like a cheap "rebuild", but hey funds are tight, and I've got an Integra to fix. Yeah, I know. Anyone got some input for me. Thanks.
you really have to wait more then 1 minute to bump your thread. but it sounds like you need to get a factory service manual, read it over, and then come back with whatever questions you have
but if youre bearing clearances are fine, then there is no reason you can't use a crank from another engine.

Yeah, I've seen bearings on eBay too, but when I am shooting for accurate clearances, Honda color codes come in handy. Whereas most other bearings don't offer the same differences in thicknesses.
