got pulled over for tint
bought the car about a month ago from Honda. it came with tint, got pulled over yesterday for it, now my question is if Honda is responsible? could they pay my ticket and take care of the tint problem?
You're right, it's not that dark at all but living in California means that you cannot have any tint on your front windows. I have the same grade of tint on my car all around and have had the luck of not getting pulled over. But I believe it will eventually catch up with me.
I think you are right K5^ about it not coming from the factory, but fropm individual dealers. It looks like it was installed by the last owner, because it is darker than anything a dealer would install on the front windows.
is it s fix it ticket? or a real ticket?
if its a fix it ticket then remove the front tint yourself with a steam.
- steam it like crazy (cover doors to not get it wet)
- remove slowly
- pay ticket for 10bucks or so.
- retint it with 35% after getting ticket signed off
if its a real ticket.. usually $100 or more..
try going to the dealer you bought it (when you get the ticket in the mail) and complain to them. see what happens..
i live in the OC.. i have 35% all the way around for over 4 or 5 yrs and never got pulled over..
i was driving my gfs civic with 20% (for about 2 weeks) and i got pulled over..
my brother had 20% for over a year and never got pulled over until now.. (including his speeding ticket)
just depends on the cop i guess..

Im not sure about Cali laws but i kno in Nebraska my friend got pulled over and the person who had the car before her had reallly dark tint and the cop gave her a warning ticket thing to get it fixed. I think the warning was just to get it on record that she was told to fix it, but i thout it was more of a "at your convenience type thing? but idk.

thats if its a fix it ticket.. there is such a thing as a real ticket because it is technically illegal to have tint in your front two windows. a real ticket cost much more.
California state laws says that you can tint behind the driver& passenger windows as dark as you want PROVIDING that there is a passenger side view mirror. Now today most cars come with both mirrors. When I started tinting almost 22 years ago, some cars didnt come with a right side mirror.
As of today, there is nothing legal for the driver & passenger doors.
One reason why that is:
About 20 years ago a CHP pulled over an older Buick Regal on the 110 fwy in Carson. The officer walked up to the car with tinted windows and knocked on the glass. *BOOM* the people inside the car shot him through the window. They still have not found out who did it.
Best thing to do is if you see a cop, roll your windows down. If you get pulled over he legally cannot tell you to roll them up.

I would say the dealership is liable. I'm not sure how dealer policies vary from state to state, but here in Texas a dealership cannot sell a used car unless it meets State Inspection requirements 100%. They were supposed to catch it and remove it before they even sold the vehicle to you.

I have 35% all around also, so I think it doesn't grab cops' attention as much as some escalades around my area.
Though CHP may write a ticket anyway, a prescription for the tint will hold up in court. Just as you may have documentation that an exhaust may be California db compliant it won't stop the officer from writing the ticket.
a razor blade and windex does the trick to remove it.
it would be the dealer's fault imo.
if the car isnt 100% legal for street use they can't sell it.
usually if a car has tint like yours, they will knock off some of the trade in price to compensate the labor to remove the tint.

^its really not a big deal with tint.
its only a big deal if you go pay the bail fee without removing the tint.
first offense out here is 160 bucks. then it multiplies from there on.
i'm about to get the light blue tint that you see on mercedes pretty soon. it has the same heat resisitance as limo tint, and its pretty much clear, except the slight tint of blue. and its light enough to where the cops wont bug you because its street legal. thats what you should do especially since you have a baby.

And the cops in CA will hassle you with the Blue tint if it is not on a Benz... They know it comes factory on those cars. Not a Honda.
In CA there is actually only one tint right now that is legal for the front 2 doors in CA.. A very good friend of mine told me about it the other day. It does have a slight hint of Blue in it. But its like an 80% its almost clear.. Call Auto Tint Center in Whittier, CA and ask for Tom Diaz... He can give you more info on it.
Tinting front windows are legal in only 36 States. All States have different laws for tint.

Take the tint off and take a picture and bring the pictures in and show the judge. In oregon if you even have evidence that you fixed it the judge wont even look at it, he asks if you fixed it and you say yes and he's like, dismissed.
I dont know who told you that but they are not correct at all.. I have been tinting for almost 22 years. Most Limo tints actually absorb more heat.. Its pretty much completely black. Black always absorbs heat not reject it...

so if the black absorbs more heat, how come my sister's car with limo tint is cooler than mine in the summer time and i have 20%??? can you tell me?? and its the same brand tint. what i meant was the UV rays. cuz thats what causes heat inside a car along with the kinetic energy of the air.
hmm this is not what the mercedes dealer told me.
