How to tell if My cams are 97 spec ITR cams and how to tell year on head
I am just wondering if there is any way to tell what year my head is on my b18c5 and also how to tell if my cams are type R or not.
I know that the 98up cams have the rings but I have heard there are a few 97 spec cams that don't have those rings but are still type R cams.
I just bought ctr cams because I "though" that my cams were b16's but now I am thinking I was wrong. Vtec hasn't changed much and the car is not any faster.
It is a true B18C5 and I was told it had skunk2 Pro1's in it when I bought it. Well It didn't. I just had stock honda cams and I didn't see the rings so I assumed they were b16 or GSR because vtec was very weak. Well I have now changed the cams and vtec is still weak so I think I have something else wrong in the wiring of vtec solenoid or something. It feels like just the fuel side of vtec is crossing over and I am not adding the other lobes on the cams for more air. I am not sure.

to tell the year of the head look on the left side of the head right under the vavle cover ul see 2 little circles, the one on the left with the 2 numbers ( will look like 9|7) if ur head is a 97.
