I have a 1988 Crx Si that has been sitting up for about 3 years,I changed all the basic maintenance stuff(FF,plugs,wires,cap/rotor,air filter...),car has a minor rough idle but what has me baffled is the car feels like it does not want to rev freely,like you have to push it to get it to redline until it warms up a bit and the check engine light comes on and it feels like it comes alive and wants to really move,has me puzzled.I find my self waiting for the light to come on before I get on it too much.any ideas on whats wrong?Idle air control perhaps?

it is a single repeating blink,Oxygen content.
I just changed the o2 sensor but did not clear the code yet

 

Pull the hazard fuse for 10 seconds.

 

that and the fact that its been sitting.... motors can be wierd like that. ever try to beat on a car that an old lady used for going to church for the last 8 years? they wont push past like 60-70 sometimes haha, mabye just needs some refreshing

 

funny thing is this car rips once the check engine light comes on,its crazy,Might be a fit valve or iatv?

 

hazard fuse is in the underhood fuse box.

Any sign that it might be running rich before the CEL comes on?
O2 sensor might be working properly and something else is malfunctioning giving you too much fuel and the O2 CEL.

 

could be dirty injectors?car had been sitting for a couple of years,runs great otherwise but little rumbly at idle

 

mine does the same minues the boggy idle and wanna rip *** once it comes on. i changed my o2, but it had also been sitting for over a year. idk if the CEL still comes on, doesnt usually until after i drive it longer then 20 mins. but it didnt come on at all the day i put the new o2 in, so im still kinda puzzled myself. im hoping its only because it was used to sitting, for both of our sakes.

 

Another thought - by chance do you still have that 3 year old gas in the tank?
