Default Pick a hatch - opinions wanted

I've been lookin at two hatchbacks, an ef & an eg. The eg is a little over twice the price (still only $1600) and in better shape, plus its stock, and it looks better. I'm thinkin the extra $900 would go pretty far with the ef, but it brings back memories of dreadfully slow rotted out cone filtered/shiney mufflered hatchbacks everyone had in high school (its even the same light blue color).

So my question, other than the obvious (looks and parts availability) is there any significant advantage the eg has over ef? Something to justify the price, is it any more competent than the older model?

Keep in mind, either car would get a swap probably a dohc ZC for the older one and a b-somethin for the newer one. btw, whats a CX? (compared to a dx, hx, etc) I can't seem to find any useful info on that.

edit: I want to go fast, looks come later, and the payments/insurance on my Si are slowing down the progress.

A CX hatch is the lightest hatch you can get. also i know you already said it but the parts available for the eg i such a convenience. i had an ef and went to a eg coupe or ej1 and the parts come five million times easier. IMO build the EM1 or get the eg. i say keep the EM1 though... its like the type r of civics

I like my Si, most people I come across seem to and it's pretty cool when I guy runnin an 11-second CRX likes your (basically stock) car. Thing is, I've built the car on paper and I'd end up with Foose design looks (stock-ish, but better), Viper smoking performance and S-Class Benz luxury, which is good cuz I'd be forced to live outta my car.
The EG or EF build would be simple. Clean looks, good handling, and enough go power to keep those 350z's behind me.

If you're ready to spend that money, get the eg and the b-somethin. Plus they're sexy. I'm a fan of classic hondas and i still say get the eg.

EG and turbo/build the D-series. It's good for quite a bit of HP.
