Default TSX Cams

Ok so ive been talking to few manufacturers about the top end on the new si and its been an on-going debate is the new Si's head is very similar to the TSX, almost identical. I remember reading an article about 6 months ago in honda-tuning and they were sayin they were goin to test the 06 TSX cams in the RBC head. Does anybody know how this worked out.
I can't seem to find the article but i know they're test vehicle had an injen cold air , dc race headers and hondata reflash. my same set-up except for the header which is buddy club, but while i save for bigger cams i wanna know how this would work out since a friend of mines has tsx cams out of his 06 tsx which he went bigger.

Now i gathered more info and i believe its the intake cam on the tsx which is more aggressive than the DC5-R but i want hp numbers anyone done this swap ?

is there any power gains??
i mean with the lack of tuning and all.
i wonder if it makes any power just putting them in and not tuning it?

well its a more aggressive cam set. i would imagine there would be some type of gain, but full potential isnt unlocked until you tune it

i-VTEC DOHC, my theory is you'd be correct if it weren't for the bone stock ECU calibration.

yea thats true. maybe the ecu will compensate or something? lol
but since the ecu tunes the car while you drive, it would seem logical that the ecu would compensate for the change in a/f ratio?

hmmm this isnt my thread and i seem more desperate than the OP hahaha

i love the whirly's!!

Well soory i havent been on in a few days but as far as i know there are gains but im tryin to find out what hp gain. Since im currently running a hondata reflash, injen cai and buddy club race header and i'll b puttin my test pipe on. The research ive gathered from hondatuning is that the 06 tsx intake cam is more aggressive than the CTR and Dc5-R, but the exhaust cam is very similar to our stock so no noticiable hp gains there. I just wanna make sure that before i do this this if anyone has done it. If not then i'll test and give you guys the dyno numbers from base to mods.

sorry i dont mean to bust your bubble. since the bcrh deletes the cat, theres no need for a test pipe right?

if the tsx exhaust cam is similar to the exhaust cam in there now, is there a point of switching it over.

im full stage 3 coversion on the z3 motor with no tune, they get a bit of power and with reflash they will pull harder than stock, but nowhere what they should be.

how much of a difference does it make?? i was thinking of getting like stage 1 or 2. but the lack of tuning is really holding me back. and how does your car run with those cams? and what brand cams and valvetrain if you dont mind me asking??

Some of you guys crack me up with your replies and what's even funnier is how you guys believe just about anything you hear from the rumor mill.

2006+ TSX cams make a few more HP over stock but the price youd have to pay for them they are way too expensive compared to Skunk stage 1 cams which cost less and make more power than TSX cams.

Also, anything above stage 1, unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer, will lose power.

Brian Crower cams that were specifically made for the K20Z3 will lose power with the Hondata reflash.

Unless you are getting a killer deal on the TSX stix I'd say skip them.

>10 whp is nasty? i'd say it's mildly respectable for an OEM cam swap.

the crower lose power with the reflash??
how does that happen??
you know that was my first choice actually.
cuz those were the first cams i heard specifically made for our cars.

Because Hondata lowers the rpm where the high cam lobe switchover is and the rpms are too low for the Brian Crower high rpm cam lobe thus creating the loss in power.

Bro the power loss is so dramatic that the car will be hella slower than a stock Si. You would be better off with the reflash and Skunk2 Stage 1 cams.

yea i figured stage 1 would be cool because it doesnt require advanced valvetrain. but i dont know about the reflash, i kinda dont like the fact of losing the traditional honda sound. but those crower cams do look tempting lol
