Rear main seal problems

Rear main seal problems
I just built a LS vtec and I used a B18A1 block and i got a felpro rear main seal for it. The Seal started to leak with in 10 miles. I saw this groove kinda dug into the crank where the rear main seal is. I was wondering if you have to fit that seal into that groove to make it stop leaking and how to you tell when it is in that groove?
