I just cant seem to find squat with this new search crap.
Lookin at pickin up 97 jdm itr cams for a good price. can i run em on stock gsr valve springs or should i change to dual valve springs, change any retainers or keepers.
and do you need to pull the cam gears off to do the cams or can u leave them on

New Search sucks, true....but this has been discussed quite a bit.
You CAN run the GSR Springs w/ ITR cams, but you won't be able to take full advantage of the cams. DO NOT attempt to go past GSR redline.
If you want to save cash, you can always pick up ITR INTAKE springs. Move your GSR Intakes to the exhaust (same part number) and Voila...ITR springs.
I'm not sure about retainers. Maybe someone else can answer that.

Type-r cams are great in a gsr. I happen to know this from experience. I ran type-r cams in my stock gsr. Tuned I made 169whp and I forgot tq and this was on a stock gsr motor. The only thing is that to fully take advantage you have upgade valve spring. You don't have to,I didn't the only down side to not upgrading is you won't be able to go past stock gsr redline. You'll still feel a power gain. Another thing is if you do go with type-r cams I recommend you use the 98-00 type-r cam the lobe is slightly bigger and a little more power too. I have a pair I'm selling.....
just switch the intake springs to the exhaust and order some ITR intake springs like said above and use your stock retainers and valves. that is what i did you can get the itr intake springs for under $100 bucks from del ray acura online.

to the OP, you havent searched enough. theres like billions of threads bout this setup.
yes, you can run itr cams on stock b16/b18c1 valve train.
Well common sense would say that anything BOLTED to the stock cams will have to be removed and switched over to the news cams right?
Hey smart guy, since when were the cam gears on the distributor side? I vote OP is a bench racer.
its been done before, plus b16 intake valve springs are dual, but i know what you mean. i'm currently running itr cams with gsr valve train. works beautifully. vtec is the ****! thinking bout k24 in my ek...
i believe only the 2nd generation and up b16 motors have dual springs. can anyone confirm?
Seriously, buy a manual or subribe to hondahookup and download a manual before you destroy a perfectly running engine.
