ive been having overheating problems lately.my car would overheat driving normally for about 10 minutes the meter would reach almost to the top.i noticed the bottom radiator hose doesnt get warm or hot but the top hose is hot.heater wasnt working very well.replaced the thermostat heater starts working great but still would overheat bottom hose is not cold anymore.so could this be the water pump or another type of problem?

 

Q1.)= while the car is running (idling) for about good 10m check the upper hose see if there a pressure and (2.) also check your fan see if it work rite when it pass the middle.

 

air pockets mostlikely but could be water pump try n get this funnel that attaches to the top of your radiator where your cap would normally go and then add the coolant it gets rid of air in the cooling system..... happens sumtimes

 

sounds like air in the system or fan isnt working.

 

I meant the temperature..

 

yeah ive been bleeding the system still same results.my fan doesnt turn on its been wired to manually be turned on and even if its on temp doesnt get lower then half on the meter or with the heater on

 

okay at idle car is fine heater blows hot.but when driving with heater on with the temp starts to climb up and heater blows colder.

 

Did you bleed with the car at an angle? Front needs to be higher than the back.

If so, then let it cool off. Open the radiator cap, and start the car. Let it get to temp to open the thermostat. Then watch to see if the fluid is moving. (also check to see if the fan is running at temperature, and thats a whole other can of worms)

If not, then you have to check the thermostat, and then the water pump.

If it is moving, then good... Rev the engine while watching the fluid in the radiator. Does it fizz, or bubble? If so, then you have a bad head gasket, or warped head.

There are TONS of threads with problems like yours, unfortunately many end in bad heads.

...if your fan does not turn on then replace your fan switch above thermostat....(color green)..

 

Did you check the front of the radiator? A lot of time there is so much junk in the front that blocking the air to the radiator. Make sure that you have good air circulation through the radiator.

 

thanks for your help guys.today i let the car warm up and the temp stays under half on the gauge.but the overflow tank would just start steaming up really hot.and i have the radiator cap off and it would just steam up and if i tried to put fluid it would just bubble and spit it back out.could this be the headgasket?

 

If its your head gasket you would be loosen a lot of coolant man quickly. Also have someone when the car is on and press on the gas pedal as you stand behind the car, you should see white smoke coming out of the tail pipe that will definitely indicate your head gasket it bad.

 

Is the fan coming on?

 

fan doesnt turn on unless i turn it on myself theyve been cut and wires to a switch from previous owner.and i do have white smoke comming out from the exhaust but not a lot and not sure if this matters but i do have a lil water comming out from it also but it'll go away.and the radiator would keep bubbling and spitting out fluid when the car warms up

 

okay.back from the dead.replaced my headgasket does run a lot better.heater blows super hot.car warms up normally.drive normally does not overheat unless i punch the gas but if i dont *race* it would not overheat.i bled my system many times.could my water pump cause this problem

 

Did you get your head checked by a machine shop?

If not, it may be warped, and may be the cause of leakage.

BUT, if its time to replace your water pump, then go ahead and do that, and the timing belt and tensioner.
