I own a 90 ef hatch, and i just bought another one from a friend that has a zc swap. I am bought to swap it in to my ef. a buddy of mine took the tranny off the block to change out the clutch and i sat the tranny aside while i cleaned up the motor a little bit. after i cleaned the motor i started to clean the tranny a little bit and noticed 3 little letters on the side that say lsd. I was stoked cause i got the whole car motor and all for 800. does anyone know what year that the lsd came on the zc?

 

that was nearly incomprehensible....

if its an OEM LSD, you can see thru the differential between axle holes.

if there is a white serial number going left to right, then it is a newer SOHC ZC tranny.

if there is a bronzish vertical serial number, its an older DOHC ZC tranny.



btw, if anyone wants an OEM D-series LSD, i have one for sale.

 

you can identify the year of the tranny by looking the number of rings on the input shaft like any EF tranny. look at the faq.

 

You sure it isn't PL3-xxxx or something? You have pics?

Follow Tyson's instructions to identify if it really does have an LSD, if it does, you've found a pretty rare part.

 

ill have to check it out and see... but how i know its an lsd is that it doesnt have a bar where that axles go like an open dif tranny its straight through...but you still havent answered my question. I just simply want to know what year(s) they made a jdm dohc zc with an lsd tranny
