2003 civic- 102,000 miles maintainance required lite on but showing no codes. this noise came about 1,500 miles after brake job. doesn't make noise untill about 40 mph, can throw in nuetral and no differance in noise. this is a automatic trans it shifts thru all the gears fine and the fluid is good but it feels like something is holding the car back, slows fast when letting off the gas. I hope someone can help

All I can recommend is all you have to do is must suddenly go directly to a civic company to fix your problem rather than taking advises from forums.

Sounds like a wheel bearing or drive shaft problem. Jack the car up, and turn each wheel by hand (put the tranny in neutral to turn the front wheels with the emergency brake applied). Put the tranny in Park, and release the emergency brake to turn the rear wheels. If you hear or feel something different on a certain wheel, you've found the culprit.
