Doin rear discs on my 00 EX, master cyl and prop valve questions?
Okay when I did this on my EG I used the master cylinder off of a 1991 EX as per B18C5-EH2's directions, and a 40/40 proportioning valve.
Now I'm getting ready to add rear discs on my EX, I keep finding conflicting information.
Do I need a proportioning valve and master cylinder from a 99-00 SI or is it all the same?
From searching it seems the CX, DX, LX, HX, and SI are all the same proportioning valve but the EX is different? (makes no sense to me)
What about the master cylinder?

you dont need the prop valve, but for best resultsts you NEED it.
if i was doing it i would definetly use them
im a little confused by that as well you would the si and ex would be the same because they have rear disk and not any of the other ones.

EXs are different because they use large front brakes and rear drums.
CX and DX hatch, as well as HX and Si coupe all share the same prop valve. DX and LX sedans are different again, but the same as each other, EX coupes are different again. Just pull one from a hatch, easy to find a should be fairly cheap.

if your using rear disk conversion you usally want to get a 40/40 from an integra or Si distributes the brakes the right way on disk brakes, lx dx ex had drums which means they used 70/40 i think it is or something like that which makes your brakes like **** if your using rear disk brakes. drums and disk brakes are diff as are the prop valves that go with them, I should know im using my stock 92 cx prop valve on GSR conversions and im pretty much stopping with only my front brake.
I just did a full gsr brake conversion on my 98 cx. First off what brakes are you putting in, your ex should already have rear disc brakes. If your car doesn't have rear discs and your putting in the standard civic or integra rear brakes this is what you'll need.
1)99-00 Civic Si Prob. valve. Acura Prob valve won't bolt to firewall.
2)7/8th civic ex or si master cylinder should be fine. I am running the same for GSR brakes. Don't get the 15/16th acura mc unless you are replacing the brake booster as well.
3)You should also get rid of your front brakes and replace them with larger 10.3in rotors from a civic Si, ex, or acura integra. 80% of braking is up front.
Can you clarify what car you have and exactly what brakes are being put in.

*sigh* again, the CX & DX hatchbacks as well as the HX and Si coupes share 1 prop valve. Other 6th gen civics use different prop valves though.
