simply pull back the passenger side carpet and count the number of blinks...
1 long blink = 10
i quick short blink = 1

1 long blink and 6 quick blinks = 16

4 short is code 4, 8 short is code 8, but that 15 is a little odd.

4 Crankshaft Position (CKP Sensor)
6 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT Sensor)
15 Ignition Output Signal

4 and 15 could be that the dizzy is bad, or possibly wires leaving the diz are loose.

ect sensors are on the side of the head under the dizzy. the single wire connection gives your gauge cluster the temp reading, and the other 2 prong connector is what tells the ecu your engines temp information. there is also an ect switch on the back of the block that has 2 prongs and tells the radiator fan when to turn on. you wouldn't throw a code though even if that wasn't working, so i'd check the other two things.

well bulbs aren't too expensive and it never hurts to have a new set. then if that doesn't work you canwork your way back from there.

test the harness at the lowbeams with a multimeter and see if its they get battery voltage. if you don't see +12v at the harness then go from there, and maybe check for broken wires in the headlight harness.

you do understand it doesnt cost 600 bucks to replace a valve spring right? Ill give you a quick idea of what it will take, but not every little tid bit. This isnt hard at all.

-Remove valve cover and timing belt cover
-Release timing belt tension
-Remove cam caps and cam
-Remove spark plugs from head, can do just the cylinder you are working on but the other 3 make easier to turn over.
-Feed as much cotton string, (rope) into the cylinder you are working on as possible.
-Put socket on crank and turn until string is crushed tight inside, this will keep you from possibly dropping a valve. Many have remove retainers and not had a valve move, but its quick easy insurance.
-Compress valve spring with appropriate tool(s)
-Remove keepers
-Install new Valve spring
-Install keepers
-Put cam in
-Time engine using reference marks
-Bolt cam in place
-Tighten timing belt
-Install timing belt cover and valve cover.
-Install plugs and wires and anything else you had to take off and i forgot to mention

-Fire it up and drive it
Might as well do the valve job after spring installed and valve cover is off. All torque specs and clearances available with a little searching

This can be done well under a Bill, so dont sweat it. Saturday afternoon and a 12 pack and it will be good to go.

If I missed anything let me know. I was in a hurry and probably not super thorough, but now he has an understanding. Dont like my technique, recommend yours.

Peace
