New tranny. Is it worth it?
JPR Motors offers these used Auto trannies with 30-40k miles for $895. I am looking to do the replacement myself, along with the help of some buddies. I am wondering if you guys think the price is a good deal. If the transmission is ALL I need, I think I might invest. Can you guys also tell me what else I'm going to need for the replacement? (Gasgets, sensors, etc?)

Hello,
If it is a direct replacement for your trans, I would think that you would not need anything else, simply plug and play, but if I was you I might replace that front pump seal before I put it in the the car so you will be sure of no leaks out of the seal
Cheers

yea i paid 1600 for a complete rebuild for my AT trans [labor included of course] ... if your up for it i think a manual swap is a better option ... dude if i would have known you'd need a trans i would have sold you mine ... i sold it for $350 ... it only had like about 12k on it ... i lost so much money ... but i needed cash at the time and people were being cheap low balling me ... people are so cheap

Is the torque converter seperate from the tranny? Or would I have to open up the tranny to get to it? Also, where can I find an OEM Honda torque converter?

Torque convertor is prob the one thing you DON'T want to waste your money on. It's the heart of the transmission; putting power to the wheels. My original Torque convertor was making noise then started failing which burnt up the clutches. BLAH!
Anyways the torque convertor is located between the tranny and the engine. It's bolted directly to the flywheel. It's that huge and heavy turbine looking piece.

i just paid 500(250 + shipping) for a japanese tranny and installed it myself. just make sure to ask whoever you are buying from if it will fit on your engine. most of the time they will know. its all about the research
