ECU upgrade for JDM Spec Prelude Type S.
Hi guys can u guys give me recommendations for my JDM SPEC Prelude Type S? Which ECU upgrade does a plu and play harness for my car?
E-Mange? AEM EMS? AEM IC/FC?
I really do not know which and what brand will fit my car plug and play wise...

The AEM F/IC is suppose to have an optional PnP harness coming soon. I don't know if it's been released yet or not. I know you can get a VAFC with a PnP harness (cuz I have one).
The VAFC does not have ignition timing tuning capibilites right?
AEM EMS is a standalone. You have to keep the stock ecu to retain ATTS. Greddy Emanage Ultimate will be the best performing given the constraints.

EDIT: bah! vin beat me to it again.
Don't forget with the ATTS (assuming you kept it), you probably won't be able to do anything standalone, unless you can run parallel ECU's. eManage Ultimate is probably the best piggyback you can do, but I don't believe it does ignition timing either. If you figure something else out, I'd like to know...

Sorry, wasn't familiar with the F/IC from AEM; looks like a decent box too. And I was wrong, the Ultimate does have support for ignition control. If you can't tell, I don't have a lot of experience with engine management yet :/ The AEM has slightly better resolution (21x17), although I thought the Ultimate had better res over the standard eManage (16x16), but I could be wrong again. The Ultimate does look like it has quite a few correction and modifier maps, however, that the AEM doesn't appear to have.
nemoyan, check out Boomslang for PnP harnesses: www.boomslang.us, they carry them for most piggyback and standalone controllers (including the AEM F/IC and the eManage/Ultimate)

The F/IC has a major drawback. It can't advance ignition. Emanage Ultimate is as good as it gets for a piggyback. Definitely don't buy new; you can find them used or nearly new at tremendous discounts.
HI Guys, I have decided on getting the E-manage Ultimate. Hopefully it works out well. Currently running on stock JDM Spec prelude Type S. With CAI and Freeflow muffler..... will see what i can get out of the car with ECU tuning b4 deciding on cams upgrade...
Hope everything goes well.
Hope everything goes well.
Yer this will be interesting to see as the Type S uses a tuned ECU of the H22a8 as they are practically the same engine minus the 17bhp difference. So the JDM ECU is already very well tuned, lets see how far it can be taken so i will get one.
Thanks Guys! The report will not be in so early cause I need to change the engine mount on my car and gear box seals first. After that I will concentrate on tuning the car . And maybe somewhere down the road i will think of doing cams and pistons.(if budget allows... heehee)

Hi Bros!!! I done my EMU already...
Did butt tuning so no dyno graph to show currently...
But sure did not regret.... was able to tune it to give a smoother and fast rev range.... i love the way my car drives now... its almost stock.
But i got one question. Do u guys know my car stock ignition timing...cause i think the ex owner played around with it b4... i want to move it back to stock and tune it from there.
