i spun a rod bearing and im wondering if i should just replace the rod bearings or do i need to do more than just replace those parts? do i need to repolish the crank etc.? the motor is already pulled out of the car. oh and this is on my beater so im not really trying to spend an arm and a leg.

ok so i should measure the crank and check the rods for discoloration with a plasti gauge? so basically im just better off with a whole new rebuild kit? i was hoping i wouldn't have to get a rebuild kit.
if the crank checks out and isn't too scoured from the spun bearing then just put in new rod/main bearings and be done with it. if the crank is gouged then you'll need to get a new/remanufactured one.
It'd be a lot safer and cheaper buying a rebuild kit. You probably dont want to but you probably wouldn't want to re-spin a rod bearing later or f up any other parts neither. Just my .2
