Are 1 Gen CRX Engines the same in the US as in Canada?
I run a CRX website and I got this email from a guy asking me this question. I think that they are the same becase Honda didnt start to give Canada the superior models until years later. But I might be wrong. So please post if I am here.
Thanks

I dont think canada ever really got superior models, just different names of the models (like our 99 si is their SiR, while their Si is our EX).

I heard somewhere that the canadian heads on the 1st gen CRX's were a little better than the US heads. Any truth to that?
I don't know if they got CVCC or not. I do know they didn't get the Si the same year, we got it in 85 and they got it in 87 I think.

The Canadian heads were the same construction as the US heads, but an old Honda Tuner told me that the Cad. heads flowed a little better or something. The Cad. heads are stamped differently if I remember correctly also.

84-87 Canadian DX heads are superior, cuz they don't have CVCC. They are basically an Si head with single (Si has dual) valve springs and milder cam. Also much less emissions equipment/vac hoses running everywhere.
85-87 Si motors are the same.
AFAIK, Canada didn't get HFs.
